Agreed.
We attended a lot of the old IHL games in Peoria, as the QC's were about 30 years behind the rest of the Midwest in building an arena, and it was the only way to see my Blackhawks' Indianapolis Ice affiliate. It was fun watching the NHL retreads alongside some bonafide NHL prospects, but it was never the same in mission as the "A".
As an aside, it's rather amusing seeing the new rec league-level "I" trying to channel the old (which did, overall, feature NHL/AHL-level talent) in its marketing.
