What a disaster; at least she now seems to realize she is in way over her head. If she's smart she'll go on the lecture circuit, make some easy money, and forget about ever running for anything again.

I watched that mess of a speech, if she had any future aspirations they're gone now.
But she still tightens the slacks.

It was a strange speech but I understand the gist of it. She's was quietly the governor of Alaska, then she became a VP candidate and it turned her life upside down. She fights one annoying claim after another and since she's not planning to run again, she'll quit now.
She's done. I don't think she'll enter politics again. She'll do other work.
And she's broke.

She has been seeming a little less stupid lately in interviews, but it still confounds me to see her so popular amongst voters. I am all for a strong willed gal who likes to go out hunting and drink beer, but combine that with the knowledge base of a 3rd grader...
This is a strange move though.

Clearly you overestimate the intelligence of the average American voter. Sometimes I wonder how some of my neighbors keep from stumbling onto the train tracks.

So her daugther gets knocked up, and then goes on a lecture tour of America teaching kids abstinence only education....
Sooo logically Mommy Palin should go on a tour about dedication to public office and to never quit.
Soon her husband will be seen in the lecture circuit explaining the stark difference between snow mobiles and snow machines Years later Mr and Ms Palin will tour the country speaking to sold out lecture halls to promote outlawing hunting

The only public speaking tour she should ever do is the one where she is the example of how not to be a public speaker.
Wow, what a disaster everything that comes out of her mouth is.
I'm also betting on the Federal investigations and upcoming scandal into embezzlement or political favours as the catalyst for this.

I watched the coverage from Fox News and CNN today, two completely different scenarios.
CNN had political commentators basically saying she is done, and this would obviously not help her in a national election. Her weak point other than not being able to answer questions properly was her lack of political experience. Not sure how quitting in the middle of your first term as governor is going to improve that weakness.
Fox News interviewed Palin family members and Republicans who were suggesting that she is going to use this tiime to study/train and get ready for a Presidential run in 2012. Good luck with that.
Of course one of the knocks against Obama was a lack of experience as well...

I'm sorry for saying this, well not really, but apart from enjoying watching this woman make an ass of herself politically she's still a MILF, or rather a GMILF. God bless america for allowing such a dumbass, yet in some eyes HOT, GMILF to run for the second best office.

That's true--but the comparison isn't very apt. Obama has mountains of experience relative to Palin, not to mention a great deal more political savvy.
So... she wants to run in 2012, but needs three years to study? If this is the best they can come up with, the GOP is in big trouble. My guess is a better candidate comes out of the woodwork in the next 12 months.
Meanwhile, Republicans everywhere will step up their drinking to hasten the process of forgetting that they were ever dumb enough to nominate this nitwit for anything.

Mike Huckabee said he won't rule out running next time. I have always been impressed by him personally even though I don't share many of his personal beliefs. He'll be 57 years old in 2012.
It will all boil down to whether Obama can start producing results rather than talking about them and whether the pragmatic concerns of leading the world's only superpower causes his supporters to become jaded.
I don't think that there is a solution to the Guantanamo prisoner problem for instance. He's promised to close the prison there but he can't release those men as they are too dangerous. The source of much of the evidence against them combined with how long they have been held without trial means there is no civil court that would convict them. So, does he make the argument that they are prisoners of war and as the War on Terror is not over, they can be held indefinately? How long before that affects Obama's image? Could he survive as President if he releases them only to have one of them commit an act of terror against Americans?

Only in the US could they vote someone like her into power. In Canada she wouldn't even stand a chance against Farmer Stelmach or Stephane Dion.
And she is NOT hot! Well she is probably the hottest Alaskan politician.

Palin got way more sneering disdan than she deserved. Was she dumb? We will never know. It's the media who decide how to portray someone and they hated her from the start. I'd also like to remind everyone that Obama made his share of campaign gaffes, including overestimating the number of states in the US.

So her daughter gets knocked up, but her mother stands by her the entire time and helps take care of her and the child. Who cares if she believes in abstinence? Besides condoms aren't the solution to teen pregnancy, it's convincing kids that sleeping around when you're 17 isn't a good idea.
