Just such an odd little mini rant.
Well I think I get the point he's trying to make, and I kind of agree with him.
Plus I'll be going to some Sabres games.

You have to think these things through before you go all matchy-gasoliney.
The Flames have been contemplating a new arena for some time. Macthy-gasoliney would be an accelerant for those plans. Get it?

Whats with the hostility to the stmapede? Heaven forbid we actually have something go on for once in a year that gets this city alive and in a festive/party mood.

It's been a creeping, growing, life-long resentment. I'm sure the city would go on without it.

It would go on, but would suck in comparison to what we have now.

Basically, if you like:

a) Girls dressing as cowgirls, short skirts, cruising around the streets.
b) Beer
c) Everyone in a good mood
d) Pancakes and bacon

Then I fail to see how these 10 days are a bad thing.

a) Girls would dress in short skirts in the summer without Stampede
b) Beer is readily available year round
c) There is never a time when everyone is in a good mood
d) Pancakes and bacon are readily available year round

a) Not with such frequency, and they don't wear the nifty hats
b) Not with such frequency
c) There's this one time of the year, it's called Stampede, and is currently ongoing
d) Not with such frequency or availability.

Sounds like you've had some bad experiences. One day next week you should let me take you around for a good ol' complete stranger drinkathon. What do you say?

You meant "hick/hayseed/redneck/hillbilly" music. But otherwise, that was a fine effort.

And clearly my general grumpiness in itself invalidates point c?

I would gladly meet your for a drink far away from the grounds in a non-Western themed establishment. Otherwise, I have to politely decline out of principle.

Well...if you hate those 10 days so much, you could just go on hollidays somewhere else during that time.

Do girls really look better in pink cowboy hats?

I should get one.

Blech, no. Pink cowboy hats are stupid.

Girls look sexy in cowboy hats, period. They don't need to be pink.

IMO this just weeds out the marriages that shouldn't be. If you really love your husband/wife and the marriage is strong you wont even think of cheating on them no matter how drunk you get.

It also weeds out the ######bags who don't have the guts to tell thier partner they want out. Child support and broken homes are sometimes a nasty side effect with the kids being the big losers in all this.

You know for someone who hates the Stampede so much you sure seem to spend a good amount of time in every single thread that mentions it.
