I have been a wedding Dj for ten years and the best two songs I have ever heard for the first dance are as follows:
- We got Tonight by Bob Segar
- Lost Together by Blue Rodeo
Maybe it was the couples but they stuck out as very orignal and very fitting.

our wedding DJ was awesome. I gave him a list of songs that he could not play and he followed it to the letter. Here are some on the no play list:
I knew the Bride
Bird Dance
YMCA
anything by Abba
Macarena

This was the one we used last year, seems to be rather unlucky seeing as the marriage only lasted 8 months.

Our first dance was "Making Memories of Us" by Keith Urban. Our last dance was "Lost Together" by Blue Rodeo.
My Dad and I danced to "I Hope you Dance" by Leean Womack. It was a tear-jerker for sure.

Noooooo!! They are definitely cheesy, but so fun for everyone. I vote for keeping those on the playlist.

Kudos to AvsJerk for suggesting In Spite Of Ourselves ... larf. It's probably a better anniversary song though.

Our first song last year was the acoustic version of Bruce Springsteen's "If I Should Fall Behind", the lyrics of which read like wedding vows. A bit long, but people really were taken by the lyrics.
We also had Doc Walker's "Rocket Girl" as the second song, as our first date was at a Doc Walker concert some years ago.

Thanks for all the input everyone. Most of these are all songs I wouldn't have thought of.
Keep'em coming!
