I'd imagine a first kiss, I don't really do the talk thing. Though for me, I guess after a while, when she starts calling me her boyfriend, I guess that settles that.
Not after the "one good date" though, cause you never know. I sort of started seeing this girl and had a great first few dates, but because she is a graduating this year, she was super busy with loads of interviews every week, finishing off her degree, and wanting to see friends before they go their separate ways post-grad, I guess the dating thing is now on hold. I'll admit I was pretty disappointed, though it almost seemed too good to be true.

No it wasn't friend zoned... thankfully, it wasn't the nice guy stuff or anything, she just said it was gonna be a hectec month and with the stuff she had going on, fully understandable.
If it were a friend zone, she wouldn't have went out and bought a super low cut, short skirt for the last time we went out.

Obviously you are unaware of the low self esteem friends zone.
But when you give an answer like that, again we have to ask, did you get the goodies?
If yes - FZWB . . . good for you
If No - FZWCT . . . . You poor .

One day I'm going to start a "Malcolm's Official Dating/Relationship Advice Thread" so that all the poor schlubs stuck in the Friend Zone have a convenient place to turn when they're wondering why the chick won't return their calls.

You were duped.
The skirt wasn't for you. She bought it to wear to a job interview.

After a first kiss?! That would mean that I have had a LOT of boyfriends... at the same time....
Anyways I've never had to have "the talk" with anyone to determine whether or not we were boyfriend and girlfriend, it just reached the point where we both knew. Like when you're seeing eachother all the time, calling eachother, making lots of plans, etc. I think that generally signals relationship.
But maybe some people need a been more solid clarification.

I think the following list from her day planner may expalin that.
Problems:
1) I'm finishing up MBA and getting a good job soon, will likely necesitate a move.
2) I own a lot of heavy furniture
3) I'm (presumably) pretty small
Possible Solutions:
1) Hire a moving company (cons: expensive)
2) Get guy I want to be a boyfriend to do it (cons: that guy is a jerk and won't help me move)
3) Get guy I don't want to be my boyfriend to do it (cons: will have to buy a short skirt)
Just my two cents.
