I don't have many occasions to wear boots anymore, but when I wore them all the time they were incredibly comfortable. Once you break in a good pair of boots it's like wearing slippers.

So if I buy a pair to where during Stampede, it will take my how many years to break them in? A decade or two?

A couple days.
Insoles can help if your feet get sore, but if you get good enough boots you shouldn't need them.

Whatever you do. Don't listen when someone tells you that you should soak them in the bathtub and then wear them around the house.

Also, it's "wear" not "where".

Get a pair of Ariats. I just bought a pair and they are easily the single most comfortable pair I have ever had. No break-in required (for me atleast). They'll easily set you back $150, but really what pair of cowboy boots won't?

They are definately more comfortable. Not as durable, but they are not made for gathering cattle in the bush or branding calves. They are made more for casual wear.

My cowboy boots are the second most comfortable pair of shoes/boots I own.

Most comfortable are my Nike Free 5.0's.

Seems to me, casual wear is eactly what North East Goon is looking for.

And they seem to hold up to the rigours of running around a rodeo infield for weekends

Mine are hand-me-downs from my husband. Already broken in and soooo comfy! And what guy doesn't like a woman in cowboy boots?

Hand-me-downs from your husband?

So are you part Sasquatch or does your husband have trouble staying upright?

I second this.

I wore the same pair of Ariats for riding and other work 5 years plus.

True. I have never owned a pair. The girls at Normans in Cut Bank had me try on a pair when they first came out. Real comfortable compared to your average leather soled cowboy boot. The manager talked me out of them saying they wouldn't last. I think at the time he figured they wouldn't last in the market. Looks like he was wrong.

There is a three part answer to this:
-I have flipper feet (I was a great swimmer in my youth)
-I like my boots loose
-My hubby likes his boots on the tight side.
I do wear thicker socks when I wear them so they aren't too loose.
