I guess my big question is, what kind of ratings system does it use? I assume there may be different categories than what we have now. Are guys still going to be rated say 65-85, or is there a different level. Re-rates are hard enough to do but if we're changing the categories and everything it will be very hard.
Thankfully this sim has a function to import ratings so we won't lose what we have in place. However it looks like the OV is calculated different - and as such we may have to adjust our grids so they are still in line.

For instance an 80 OVR player might now by a 70 OVR player - with the appropriate alteration to the grid.

Just an example to work from, our CPHL numbers can/might be different.. but will now read this way
Code:
        Players

Player Name PO CK FG DI SK ST DU PH FO PA SC DF EX LD MO PO OV
Aaron Boogaard RW 64 61 50 54 70 45 45 40 45 47 51 58 60 50 85 49

Okay so if they all stand for what I think they do it looks like we have a few new ratings in play now. I guess FO is face offs. FG, fighting maybe? PH is probably puck handling which we do have now...

Having a face off rating is a HGUE improvement over FHL.

^Yup and PO is potential based on the player's age.

MO is momentum I think.

So the PO rating would have little effect on our league then, right? Would we even use it or just put everyone to the same rating?

Thanks Doug. Looks like the ratings are a lot better, especially for goalies. The only rating that's a bit questionable is Morale. I guess that continually changes so if that has an effect that could be a bitch. Guess you have to just move a guy to the 1st line for a game if his morale and ty.

I am a big fan of this change! STHS>>>FHL...This sim is much more predictable, and although chemistry does play a big part you are not gonna see a team of 4th liners beat a top team as often.

MO=Moral and has a lot to do how the team is doing. The more the team wins the higher the morale, however you have to be careful about having star players trapped on the lower lines as well.

I certainly like having more control than just the lines. This will take some more skill.

I like it.

Good job commishes.

I love this decision, I especially love the FO rating as it means just because some players have C eligibility, if they really play wing their entire career then they'll suck in the faceoffs!

That's awesome! One more reason to regret my decision. I think it'll make for a much more realistic league, well done commishes!

See it is not smart to have a stacked team, to help out the teams that have to many stars I am willing to take them off your hands for cheap. No need to thank me I am just doing this for you!

Well it is about friggen time

I have used STHS for a couple of years now. Simon makes improvements all the time. The sim is really nice to use, for both GMs and the simmers. Your coach will actually make a difference. You have farm games simmed also, with lines set by by the GM, not just random lines and goalies by the sim.

The neatest thing IMO is the sliders for how the game is played. GMs decide how much offense, defense or physicality the game will have from their side of the bench.

Jiri, if you have any questions feel free to catch me on MSN or shoot me a PM. You guys are going to love STHS!

Now I love the sounds of this.... sounds like you adjust the style of play toward the style of players you have. Added to that, with the same roster one can get better or worse results from his players depending on how attentive the GM's is to the effect a slider had on his team

or maybe not
