I use it for both. I have a travel time of 60 minutes every morning and afternoon and I watch tv and play games the whole way. I just have a plug-in at work and I charge it half way through my day. no big deal.

Having wifi on it rocks! I didn't think it would be all that useful, but some many times I have used it to get a map or tidbits of info.

I actually have a bit of a hard time getting wifi on the thing. i'm actually surprised that about 90% of the wireless networks in this city are secured. Guess maybe it's different if you're downtown.

I'd recommend an 80 gig classic. The touch is cool, but It won't satisfy your music needs. With a large music collection like yours, it's great to always have it all with you and never have to shift stuff around because of space. Having your entire music collection on random is amazing!

When you're in the market for a new phone get the iphone, and use the classic for music. This is the combo I have and it gives the best of everything, without having to settle for a halfway solution of both.

This is one reason I also have a 160gig iPod...there are certain days when I love having access to all my music, not just the admitedly large subset I can carry on the Touch

Good lord.. are you living in the STONE AGE or something?

May I introduce you to Simplify Media.

Install it on your computer at home, and listen to your whole library at home.. on your iPhone.

Bah! This wizardry must cost you an arm and a leg! Alas, my friend, tis free!

Get the classic if the device is for music only.

If it's for games a psp.

If you want a phone, get an iPhone.

As a sidenote- I have an iPod mini, iPod classic 120gb, and an 8gb iPhone. I use the phone for music so rarely.... it's mostly a phone and a gaming device for me.

I guess this means I would not get a touch. It's just kinda... meh. I agree with the person who said it's neither here nor there.

Already have it, but it doesn't do the trick for me for a few reasons.
-My computer is always with me and usually in my trunk while I'm driving
-I'm a realtor, and talk on my phone all day. I can't afford to drain the battery with music/apps too much.
-The HD on my computer is smaller then the HD on my ipod I can't even keep all of my music on my computer.

Thanks guys. The coolness factor of the itouch is dueling it with my practicality....still thinking about it.

For me, it's all about the music. My next iPod will be the 120GB classic, barring a version with more storage being released beforehand. Right now they are priced a mere 20 bones above the 32 GB touch.

I'd imagine that if they release a 64 gig Itouch, a bigger Ipod classic will be right behind it.

250 gig isn't that crazy anymore. And I still remember a few years ago how 1gig was a freaking lot.

What kind of apps can you get for the touch that would be like GPS, or navigation of some kind?

I remember being shocked six years ago when my dad told me the mp3 player he bought me was 256mb!

The touch does not have any sort of GPS unit in it. That's the major draw back of the device (well, that and the lack of a phone).

The 2G touch has a microphone input. It can do VOIP.

It can tell you your location, but since it's contingent on wifi it's basically useless for any form of travel.

I've never had any battery problems with my iPhone. I have a charger at home and at the office and charge it as necessary. Not much of an issue.
