Audi's are pretty decent cars - my mom and my sisters drive them. However, I decided to go with a BMW.
Just be sure not to buy from Glenmore Audi unless you enjoy being treated like ass. Awful service and terrible staff. Worst car shopping experience to date.

I drive a 2003 A4 and by far the best car I have ever owned or driven (but have never driven a BMW).
So far the performance both summer and winter has been outstanding and have had great luck from a maintenance perspective.
Audi's under warranty have no cost maintenance. And when you do have to pay for oil changes, with synthetic oils, they recommend only changing yearly.
We bought our Audi a year old, so save about $15K from new and would likely go that route again if we get another (and we likely will). At some point we will have to replace our MDX and I am thinking the Q5 would work nicely.
PS - and I have great service from Glenmore Audi - work always done on time for what they said and great drop off/pickup service.

Am I the only one who saw the thread title and thought "What possession of Audi will this be refering to?"

I doubt you could get Enzo brakes for $30,000. The new ones on the Scuderia are like $60,000. And I am damn near sure they are the same, or close to it, material wise, Enzo's are probably bigger.
As for an Audi costing $150 for an oil change. I highly doubt it, they are just like any ordinary car, not to mention the one you want would be used.

My face is a bum!

I drive an S4 (v8 version, not turbo) and was shopping it against an M3. Interior I give to the Audis. Exterior, both are good, one is more subtle, depends on what you want. For Calgary, Quattro is awesome. Handling is better on the BMW. I completely redid my suspension as that was the one thing that I was dissatisfied with after driving the BMW. Both good cars, just different.

I paid about $150 for my last oil change on my BMW, so I could see some Audi's costing about the same. It depends on the type of oil they take and how much they hold. Mine holds 7 liters of synthetic and they charged me about $10/liter.
I was in a rush though, and took it somewhere expensive and quick. I'm sure it would be less at midas/mr.lube etc.

According to Top Gear, the cocks have switched their vehicle-of-choice from BMW to Audi

Just for the record I was joking! I wouldn't take any newer car to them.

VWs and Audis definately use $10 per litre oil. Most lube places do stock it, at least Mr. Lube did when I had my VW.

You paid $150 for an oil change and you think what I said is stupid? Your insane if you would pay that much for an oil change.
And by the way, the cocks went from the M3 to the RS4, not from BMW to Audi, according to Top Gear.
Maybe I should rephrase my statement. 99% of all BMW drivers are cocks. There, all the CP Beemer drivers should be happy now (they are the 1%). :P
Just for the record, if I had the money I would buy an M3 over an RS3 and be a total , all the time.

So paying for an expensive oil change makes me a c*** ?
Good one, you've clearly demonstrated who the real c*** is.
I don't mind paying more for an oil change, and understand that it's part of driving the car I drive. It takes expensive oil, and I'm fine with that. For me, the pro's outweigh the cons. I guess that makes me an "insane "
BTW, if you think all people with nice cars are cocks, why do you have that car in your avatar? I'm guessing the oil changes on it would be over the $25, non c*** limit.

My brother in Law bought the R8 last year
I'd never spend $150,000 on a car, but its a pretty fun drive.

Paying for a expensive oil change doesn't make you a , I NEVER said YOU were one. I just said it is silly to spend $150 on an oil change. $25 for an oil change isn't the " limit", hell my Chevy Cobalt's oil change cost me $46 at Mr.Lube. I just do it myself now, which costs a bit less, but I don't mind getting under the car and doing it myself.
And the car in my avatar I would be willing to bet an oil change would cost a fortune.
I also didn't say that people who drive nice cars are cocks, I just look at them and observe their driving posture, driving attitude, etc. For example, my mom owns a Nissan 350z, and she acts like a (it isn't a good car by the way), but I can see someone drive an M3, and they act like it is their normal car. I don't think their a .
I should rephrase what I originally said after consulting my friend. Top Gear said 's drive Audi's, it is not just the RS4. So bad news for Audi drivers. They are god's so I listen to them. I retract my statement on Beemer drivers. Instead I will say "Kids who drive Beemers are cocks".

The A4, BMW 3-series, MB C-Class are all basically built to be each other. and each do different things well but fudamentally you can't go wrong with any of them.
As for the $150 oil change.. that is pretty much par for the course these days with synthetic oil.. 7-9 litres at $9-10L $20 filter and a bit of labour and you are there. The other side of it is that on most European cars you only have to change the oil every 15-20,000km not 5-8000 like on most Jap and NA cars.. Really it all evens out in the end.

I just remembering a figure I read in a magazine when the Enzo came out, I don't remember whether it was for the whole brake system, or just for new pads or something.

Some random thoughts:
- have owned a 2000 A4 2.8L for the last 4 years and there has been absolutely no problems with it. I think Audis in the past were not as solidly build, and had some problems,as half the people i know always ask how much money i spend on repairing it. The newer ones definately are pretty solid.
-one major thing with audis is that the suspension craps out earlier then other cars ( i dont know about bmw's), but you usually have to get this done after 200,000 km (japanese cars are usually good for twice that, accoring to my mechanic).
- yes, bmw drivers are usually labeled douch bags
- i just upgraded to an S4 (and am selling my A4, msg me if interested) and it is a totally different driving experience then an A4. Even though they are only a year apart, they drive different, and just have a way different feel to them, due to different suspensions (i think). We also have an A6 in family and that handles different too.
- oil changes, you can get done anywhere, where they stock the proper oil filters, while other fluids i get from the dealership
-my mechanic i go to, says 90% of his business is from Bmw/audi/vw (and no he doesnt specialize), so i guess a Lexus might be a better choice
-Audi's just look better, in and out if you ask me
-All wheen drive is amazing, as your car just handles great
-so in general its fairly hard to compare one brand to another, but rather you would have to do a certain series. A4 vs. Bmw 300's, or S4 vs M3, etc.
