Thanks. But cmyden deserves more props than I do. I just harassed Travelocity until I could get a confirmation and told you about my steps and then started this thread.

Haha save your props for me until we're a little more clear as to whether we've truly landed the deal of the century. Until then, I hope I haven't just given a bunch of people (including 14 friends of mine!) some false hope

Even if this falls through, you deserve thanks. You've posted a bunch of great deals. This one just seems to beat them all. Whether they honour it our not, I am fairly sure it is somone's typo that caused it.

I wouldn't worry about it. I see this as a no lose situation, and you gave us the heads up. If it goes through as expected, great! If not, then we're out nothing. This is awesome!

Yeah, it would just be a bit of a downer, because right now I've got 14 people with visions of one amazing group trip to a Spanish Island! They're already talking about what they want to do, etc. Could make it rough if it all disappears!

Yeah exactly nothing can go wrong here. No risk all reward.

I'm just checking out some info on the area, and Ibiza is two islands away, and Mallorca is the next island over. Sounds like I might have to check out one of these party islands if the flight goes through! Also Barcelona is only a 3 and a half hour ferry ride away! Prime location.

I agree with Zarathustra in that this is no risk, all reward. It would be a downer if it fell through. However, when I first booked it, I really only felt that this had a 20% chance of being legit. Now that I have had a human from Travelocity tell me that it is confirmed, my comfort level is up to about 50%.

Can someone enlighten me on the deal? I don't care if it's expired, I'm just curious. I was in Menorca a year and a half ago. Experienced my first and only hurricane....not to deter your excitement! Great place, nice beaches. If you're a partier and are curious, Ibiza is only a ferry ride away for about 60 euro as well.

The only problem is that it's an expensive ferry ride. +100 euros for a one-way to Barcelona. That's more than the flight. Still with the savings on the flight (Spanair willing) it might be worth it.

I believe a ferry goes to the mainland in Valencia as well. Kind of a rubby city if you don't know the right places to go, but a very young place with lots to do at night. Really nice beaches too. If ppl are going and have time to see the Med coast in Spain it's truly remarkable.

Granada (a little more in land) is a must see.

Check this site out, looks pretty sweet. https://taquilla.balearia.net/wps/portal/comercial

55 euros each way to Barcelona.

There are 3 or 4 main companies that do ferry rides to the islands. I suggest checking them all out. I wish I could remember their names but I cannot. I would think max 75 euro you're looking at 1 way.

75 euro was the cheapest I saw to Barcelona on the Ferry. Don't want to get all the charter airlines booked up too quickly, but Click Air is one you'll want to check.

Just remember not to get ahead of ourselves just yet...

That's good to know. I checked out directferrys.co.uk (first thing that came up in google) and it quoted 100 euros. maybe it's just their booking commission that jacking up the price.

Awesome if this goes through I really wanna check out Ibiza, one of the places on my list. And you say that there are daily ferries from Menorca to Ibiza? How long would that take? Also did you visit Mallorca? How is the nightlife there?

I admit I'd never heard of this Island in my life before I looked into this flight deal, I thought it would just be some Mexico style vacation where you just sit on the beach all day. Not really my style. But after hearing that this area is like party central for Europeans I'm very excited!

I ferried from Valencia out to Mallorca and then did my individual trips from there. Ibiza was cheapest, followed by Mallorca and Menorca was most expensive. It takes some digging around and persistence, but the trips were marginally higher the further you went...i.e: 55 euro to Ibiza, 65 to Mallorca and 75 to Menorca from Valencia. I'd suggest talking to a travel agent. I found that really helpful before my travels for price especially.

I was only in Menorca for a day or so, so I can't shed much light on that island. I've heard of the 3 it's the best for scenery and beaches though. I wish I could have spent more time there but had several places I wanted to see.

I was in Ibiza for the closing parties of the season when I was there...10,000 person capacity, 50 euro entry at a club called Space. The island claims to have 8 of the worlds top 10 night clubs, and they know how to party. Don't ask me how that ranking system works, but 'Space' was apparently the number 1 voted club the year before I was there. Insane party I'm so glad I caught...and it was thanks to a super nice hostel owner in Mallorca that enlightened me on the closing festivities.

So as I said I caught the closing parties for Ibiza, the clubs shut down for several months due to the offseason. The hostel I stayed at had a private room and shared bathroom for 20 euro a night....an absolute steal for the weekend i was there.

I was in Mallorca at this time and it was dead because of the offseason, but pretty good beaches. The sand is a little dirty due to all the tourists, but it's a cool vibe and if you're going in September it is just after the peak season, so you'll encounter lots of tourists as well, meaning good nightlife.
