I participate in mine at work each year (we pay annually and get one of them fancy subscriptions the lottery corp has). I view it more as another insurance payment than anything.

I wish my work had one!! My old job we went in for $1 each every Friday and then somebody went out and bought a ticket to the Super7 or Saturday 6/49 or something (don't remember which). I thought it was kind of fun and for $4/month, why the heck not?

$20/month seems a little steep to me for lotto "investing", but maybe that's just me.

I only wish my husband started working there three weeks earlier, he would've put in his five bucks!
The things is, had those 4 others players, or any other combination of them been there and were able to participate, the series of events that lead to the exact timing of the purchase of the winning lotto ticket would have changed. I am assuming the numbers were randomly generated by the machine (quick pick) and those are generated by an internal clock in the computer system. So even a second later, a totally different set of numbers would have been printed on the ticket. So basically the 4 other players didn't really miss out on anything. But try telling them that right!
