I dont generally air my dirty laundry, but all my pics are usually of me at the bar drinking, or something to that effect. I dont mind putting some of my co-workers on there... just dont want the people that really aren't around my age bracket. Just seems odd... like they want to live vicariously through you!
Probably end up creating a group and restricting pictures to just the ones I upload or something

I suppose but all the negative reasons mentioned above dont make it popular enough for me to get on to get some slutty action.
Besides if you need to do that to get some you have other problems.
What happened to the good ol days anyway where you'd just club her over the head?

I have told most of my coworkers that I won't add them to my Facebook profile because there is no need...they see me every day at work and that's how they should be finding out what's going on with me...not on Facebook.
Pretty much everyone has accepted this reason.

When I worked at Superstore, I pretty much added everyone I worked with in electronics. Some people added me, including my first supervisor. It's not like I put anything personal on Facebook, so I don't care what they see.
On the topic of Facebook, I don't understand why some people feel the need to put how their feeling as their status. I don't care if you're feeling depressed, I don't care if you're pissed off at the world, and could go on a killing spree. I got someone mad at me one time when I commented on their status about being pissed off at whatever. I asked them if they figured if anyone really cared, lol.

I don't add people to my facebook account unless I'm actually good friends with them, I'll ignore their friend request until I either find that I dislike them, or we actually are friends.
For me, Facebook is my way of keeping in contact with my friends that are out of town, or just a convenient way to leave people messages.

Like your situation right now, youre in a spot because you dont want to be rude and reject their friend request but you dont really want them on there either.
|
I think this is pretty key. People don't lose friends over time because they don't like them, they lose them because they end up going to different schools, moving to different cities, taking different jobs, moving in different social circles, etc., etc.
NOW you don't have to lose contact with ANY of these people. You can basically keep them close enough to you to keep in contact... but not too close that you 'have' to hang with them.
I've got friends I haven't seen since Grade 7 on there and I love it for this fact alone. Past = losing all your childhood friends. Facebook = keeping in touch with them, easily, forevor. Sweet.

Haha I've got one of those on mine, my buddy in Calgary's little sister. She makes sure we're ALL informed on the daily ins and outs of whats goin on between her and her bf, right in her status. For me, I dont air my dirty laundry either(actually I barely write, all I do is basically add pics), I just don't like how I have to watch my language, in case my elderly relatives read it.
Once I delete it next year, I doubt I'd start it up again. I can definitely see the use of it if you ever moved far away, in that case I'd probably get it again. But besides that, I don't get the use. But that's just me.

I used to have coworkers on facebook, then it became a big competition between others and a way to spread gossip/rumours. So I disabled my account and after a few months, I activated it again, but removed all of the coworkers. They still assumed it was disabled and I also resitricted my profile even more. It ended up alienating me from them a bit more (as they would use facebook to plan events, which I didn't get invites to then), but really, if not being on facebook doesn't get you invites, then it's not worth it anyways.
My life got a lot simpler after not having to deal with a lot of the BS that came with it.

My favourite person on facebook is one of my former teammates little brothers. The guy is emo, and just broke up with his girlfriend. His status updates are hilarity rolled up in emo-stupidity.

Actually the reason I joined Facebook in the first place was because somebody was setting up a CP group. Not sure if the group is still active or not.

if i could do it all over again, i would just not add anybody from my workplace. unfortunately, i joined & accepted people before i was savvy on how facebook works. (my mistake, i know ) I don't update my profile very often, but i still put the work people on total lockdown in hopes of keeping some sort of work/life balance.
good luck with whatever you decide!

Hahahahaha oh I hear ya! I didn't look at Facebook for a LONG time, and my buddy called me up one day laughin and told me to check out one of my other buddy's little sister's status updates. I laughed my ASS off! Regularly checking her ridiculous romance/tragic novel-type status updates daily is what got me back on Facebook in the first place. Pure comedy.

Agree!
like you, i 'lost' friends due to moving, lack of contact...etc. email, mobile phones, and all that high-tech communication stuff did not exist until way after high school, and half my college years. facebook is a great way to 'find' these friends and keep in contact with your friends from across the world.

Actually, I would like to know if someone on Facebook I know is about to go on a killing spree. Just so I can take the necessary precautions.

My tech unsavy aunt got into a politically sensitive debate on facebook with my sister and my uncle, and was apparently spouting off like crazy and some friends of my sister saw the conversation and began attacking her for what she was saying.
My aunt was very confused why these random people were able to see what she was writing, as she thought it was a private conversation. Facebook in the wrong hands can be scary stuff.
Luckily she was smart enough to remove herself from facebook before things got worse.
