Funny, I just wore mine for a soccer game tonight as well, although it is on my left foot (thank god) and I am right footed.

Like I said before, I try to do mine up like 80%, especially the laces, and it prevents anything twisting really badly but still allows some feeling through the ankle?? I also found it took about 5 athletic events before I had kind of broken it in, especially how it felt underneath the foot (right under the heel where it cuts in?).

When I first got it and did the laces up 100%-tight it was too stiff and it was hard to moderate movements and such.

(I do laces about 80% and the straps about 90%?)

Hmm maybe I should try loosening it, I'm tightening it up to the max.

You're lucky its your non-kicking foot, I'm kind of like Bertuzzi or Huselius as I like those cutsie little passes (ground passes, especially just in between the legs when the defender thinks I'm going wide), pulling the ball under my foot when I dribble and soft touches that having this thing on is like playing with a wooden ankle. Everything's off. I'm basically useless now (not that I was that useful before).

Funny story - I have these crappy shin guards I bought from Canadian Tire for U-11's (the white/purple velcro ones with the plastic tongues) that I used up until last year, when I broke one of them. Now, I just took off the ankle/heel strap part of it to accomadate this huge ankle brace and I'm back to using those crappy Canadian Tire $6 (at that time) shin guards. I can't believe these lasted this long.

Sorry for bumping an old thread, flylock shox's worked pretty well for a high ankle sprain, but the other ankle got tweeked a bit at soccer today - doesn't seem as bad as the other (first) ankle sprain. Anyhoo, any recommendations for something to strengthen the ankles that doesn't take more then 15 minutes a day?

Get an ankle replacement... haha actually I think that would make it worse. I think you should go see a PT once a week and they can give you a set of stretches/exercises that really help. I don't have weak ankles but I have intensely sore lower back and going to a PT helped a lot.
