I thought they said you can still get the unlocks the old way (through achievements) too.

If you kill someone with an unlock and pick it up that's another way to get it as well I think we figured out last night.

Not idea, but I like this way better than achievements, I can then at least get unlocks for classes I don't play without going to an achievement farm server.

I got like 3 sandmans which I already have. What's the point of getting unlocks you already own? Unless there is some kind of trading system, it's pointless and irritating.

There might be a point down the road that we don't know of, but yeah getting repeated unlocks is kind of dumb.

And getting notified of them is dumb too, I got one of the spy unlocks and I didn't even realize it.

Still better than achievements.

I can't even play on any server after the update, keep getting the message "Server is enforcing consistency for this file: particles/water_dx80.pcf".

Seems others are having the same problem and reinstalling it doesn't help

Weird.. I got a 2nd small patch last night, and a few of the guys were complaing the spy HUD was broken.

i've gotten that a few times. the fix is to open your games list, right click on TF2 and choose properties. click on local files, and then Verify integrity of game cache. it'll take a few minutes to check everything, then after that you'll probably automatically start downloading some updates for TF2. once the download is finished it should be fixed

I tried it with no success before I removed my local content and reinstalled everything... But your post made my try again, so after my reinstall I tried the verify again and this time it works. WTF?

I heard that there will be a trading system eventually.

They said that they wanted players to get about 20 unlocked weapons in 2 weeks, I think I have a dozen so far.

I think a trading system will only work if there's another factor thrown in (ie cash). Just seems odd.

Dozen, as in the dozen you start out with. I just got my first unlocked weapon... the axetinguisher. >.<

I got Jarate in the first minute I logged in after the update. The very first map I loaded was Dustbowl, I got headshot out of the gate on the opening buzzer and got Jarate. I thought - hey cool!

And now like 10 days later...

I now remember why I left PC FPS gaming. Getting shot in the head constantly.

I can be jumping around, or flying up in the air from an explosion, or just turning a corner and blam, there goes my head again. Headshots should be about luck and not an easy option.

Headshots aren't that easy, still takes skill.

Yeah I've got watches and flare guns and all kinds of stuff, but no bow.

When the trading system comes in that will be much better, you can trade for what you want.

If you could trade then that's better than achievements, achievements should be for things like the hats, to show off how good you are but you don't have to be a TF2 god just to get one of the weapons unlocks.

Lol before the update I got tired of not having the scout unlocks, so I went to an achievement server to get them.. took me a few minutes to get the ones I needed.

There was this guy though that wasn't there to get achievements, he was just sniping people and being a nuisance. Everyone was asking him to stop.

So I switched to pyro and hunted him down and burned him.. a few dozen times since it was an insta spawn server. Then I switched to sniper and killed him over and over for like 5 minutes, he was a TERRIBLE player. I kept switching classes and killing him with whatever I was.

Finally he screams at me that it was an achievement server and to stop killing him. Lol..

I left him alone for a bit, and he started up again so I did it again for another 10 minutes.

Are people such poor players that they can't play on real servers and have to go on achievement servers to kill people who aren't even trying to play?!?

Ugh. That's exactly why I gave up on achievement servers, photon. So some friends and I decided we'd gather up a few trusted players, find a desolate server somewhere with all talk, and we started popping them off left and right. Granted, we were only in it for the really obscure achievements that are nearly impossible to get in a real game, (like killing someone while he's taunting, etc.)

Also, I got my first unlock in my first game back to TF2 the other night: The Ambassador! Too bad Spy is my least played class, and I haven't found any other unlocks since.

Yeah I've got two of the decoy spy watches, but I really want the other one (the easy mode spy one).
