That is not to say I don't think the city benefits much more from developments than the burden bore by offsetting dwellers. They also suck balls in notifying offsetters on what the hell is going on.

Sorry, missed your quote.

Wow, what a surprise. That woman is totally useless. Perhaps they should put Booker's onto Memorial Drive.

What I don't get is why the heartstrings are getting pulled for the 6 year old kid's inheritance, but they say nothing of the mom. Were they divorced? Why did the kid get the restaurant? And why should we be sad that a 6 year old isn't going to inherit a bunch of money in 12 years? I don't mean to sound jealous or anything, but did any of you guys get a big inheritance? For the ones that didn't, did life go on?

This story is about a restaurant struggling because of a condo project taking too long. It has nothing to do with some poor kid. I hate when stories are spun so ridiculously.
"Look everybody! An evil developer and a lazy city hall are combining to ruin this child's life! Won't anyone think about the poor children???!!!"

Blech. It's like a Rick Bell piece.

I was never very impressed with the food at Bookers. Very expensive for what it is.

It was entertaining to sit on the patio and watch the goings-on outside the Cecil Hotel.

But she also lost her father! Oh the humanity!

While I do feel sad that she will have to grow up without her father, as you say the facts here have nothing to do with each other.

They also showed a piece on Global last night, and looking at the footage the structure of the condo appears to be mostly complete. I think it might have more to do with the factors Troutman mentioned than anything else. My favourite restaurant in Chinatown has no parking anywhere near it and requires a 2-3 block walk. However I still go because it is just that good of a place.

In hind sight they really should have looked at making that intersection on 4th a temporary access for bookers. Mow down those jersey barriers and utilize the exiting street lights.

I don't think the city is directly to blame though, they are trying to revitalize that area and road closures are just one of the costs of development. What is the solution from the city's Perspective? Charge huge lane closure rates for roads with low traffic volumes? I guess they could be more vigilant in construction scheduling restraints when it comes to lane closures but without details on the projects progression it's hard to judge.

I think it depends. How much warning did this buisness get if any? Truthfully once construction is complete that place should be busier. I think fair compensation would be a suspension of the buisness tax until access has been restored.
