I remember talking with someone who was working in production for one of the Calgary TV Stations news broadcasts. She said that after the Columbine shooting she lost all desire to keep working in the news/media as people were excited about this big story breaking. When the conversation took place I think she was working for some childrens program. No doubt the media coverage was crazy and it just grew and grew and grew. Another thing where I remember exactly where I was when I first heard this just like it was yesterday.

I think Marilyn Manson specifically.

Kinda funny to think people actually took that guy seriously.

20 years before that it was Ozzy and Judas Priest. Some people need to blame someone else for their own crappy parenting.

Yeah, that's actually where I got the quote from. It was a song of his about the whole thing. Some might say it's kinda pointless for him to release an opinion on it, but since people were blaming him anyway it's probably valid.

It's a great song actually.

But yeah, 'rock/heavymetal/new 'evil' genres of music will always be blames. Heck, there were times Elvis and the Beatles were sent by Satan. And of course after Marilyn Manson it was Eminem.

People will always be scared by new and controversial music. These are probably the same types that are very conservative (and even backwards) in other beliefs.
