The independant guy might be great but at the same time might not have all the training to fix your recently new vehicle.
Dealerships, i agree, do have a bad repuation. It all depends on which one you are using. In the past i've had some bad experiences with Ford dealerships in Calgary. That being said the Ford dealership here in High River has given me great service. No upselling or trying to fix things that aren't broken. Also with it being a small town they can't afford to give bad service as word of mouth would will thier business.

You can ask to talk to 'Canadian' Jason or 'Chinese' Jason depending on your oratory prowess. Regardless of language they will do a damn good job of fixing your vehicle and will charge you a good price.

Yes, the Auto industry is full of amazing leaps of science and new technology that requires yearly training to keep up with.

Well, Mercedes-Benz now has a vibrating steering wheel.
Sometimes the oil filter is in different locations. That's hard to keep up with.

lol you totally messed up your joke by not knowing how to properly end the quote in HTML code. I believe you meant to say [/GREEN].
I think you need to go back to Internet training.

Hey DESS, your new schtick doesn't become you. Go back to being the local kook. This board has enough a-holes.

lol the kook in me is genuine. Just haven't seen any of my hot-button topics lately. In fact, it was really weird how everything I have really strong divergent opinions about came up as topics in the span of that one week.
Sadly, the a-hole in me is genuine too.

Oh, I see. You think that I'd stick that steering wheel between my ass cheeks so that I would eventually ejaculate from the vibrations.
I hope you enjoy that mental image.

Mechanics are crooks......My brother is one, works for a dealership in Vancouver. My engine light comes on, I call him up, he tells me to come buy. Plugs in the machine, finds the problem, the part was 45 bucks....no big deal......he does all the work free of charge for me........on the work order, it says it supposed to take 2 hours. it took my brother 45 SECONDS!!!!......so any other customer would have to pay over 100 bucks for labor for a job that took 45 seconds!!!! Unbelieveable!!
My brother is a crook, but I love him for it.....i've saved so much cash over the last ten years because of him.

I know a good, honest mechanic. He's not cheap though, but he has always been very up front with me and once told me to get a new car because I'd just be back in with more problems next month. PM me if you want his details.
