And they all swear by it as well? That's the creepiest story I've ever heard.

getbak, photon, that's pretty freaky. To this day I wondered what it was. I've ruled out the possibility of it being a satellite, since I've seen a satellite in the night sky and know what it looks like. There's no way it's a plane. What plane gives off red lights in a triagle formation? And why no noise? Birds don't give off eerie red glows either. Weather balloon? Well, the flying pattern sure doesn't match one, it was way too fast.

UFOs has got to be one of the trickiest topics to discuss without sounding like a loon. If you think about it, it's unlikely that these strange lights alot of us have seen are man made. I mean, if something that could manouvre like that was in the arsenal of technology that the USAF or Navy had, don't you think we'd know about it? It certainly wouldn't still be a secret after 50 or 100 years of sightings.
And furthermore, if it indeed was something that the armed forces had, why would they fly it around populated areas and trip people out?
On the other hand, if it were aliens buzzing around our planet scoping and kidnapping and anal probing, wouldn't all our badass radar systems have picked something up? Like, aren't our skies constantly monitered by many layers of surveillence? Between air traffic controllers and airports, to the military, to NORAD (though I admit to knowing practically nothing about military or NORAD), wouldn't someone credible have seen something by now? Instead of a bunch of us regular folk who just see strange lights zipping around the sky in ways that human technology hasn't even come close to matching?
I don't know. I love sci-fi and Star Trek and stuff, and I do believe that we're not alone in the universe, but I doubt that we're getting regular visits from beings that have the ability to traverse light-years but are so absent minded as to forget to turn off their headlights when they arrive at the planet they're casing.
There has to be some kind of scientific explanation. It's got to be some kind of optical illusion or somehow related to other kinds of light shows like aurora borealis.

Agreed. When you really start to question any of the possible explanations (Alien or Man-made), neither make any sense for that exact reason - why would they be flying around populated areas with their lights on and if they are so stupid to do so, why has no credible person(s) witnessed and been able to explain them?
It's one of life's great unanswered questions but what makes the topic so intriguing and frustrating to me is there IS actually an answer and it feels like we're somewhat close to finding out what it is. Not like "what's the meaning of life?", to which there is likely not a proper answer. Somebody, or something, may even know the answer already but is just not telling us common folk....s. If somebody knows just tell us already!!!
