No wonder the US is perceived like a bunch of slack jawed yokel bullies after a demonstration like that. Like an above poster said, it was actually angry at his comments. I sent an email as well, even though they will probably just delete it before opening.

Good letter Captain. I think that jackass needs to make a personal phone call apology to the family of the 4 victim's fallen families and some sort of personal apology somehow to the Canadian Forces.
I hope this guy gets his ass fired. Fox News, go F yourselves.

Thanks for posting that, Captain, very well said. I've only seen the parts of the show that's been played on the news and refuse to watch the rest of it. I get so angry when I hear things like that, when I hear anything that an American (or anyone else from any other country) says to try to belittle us. His "apology" was both ridiculous and patronizing, and I'm sure we'll hear something more appropriate in the coming days. Not that it'll do any good.

Just chill on the reaction. This guy does deserve to stub his toe on a landmine, but you can't throw all americans under the bus because of his ######bag "comedy".

Sorry I didn't mean that "all Americans" are Tools just Greg Gutfeld and those idiots on the panel. I agree that stereotyping a whole country is wrong and didn't intend to make it out like that. After reading over my post, I could see how you would assume that.

What a disgusting display. Offensive, callous, and--completely unfunny. I think the apology sounds a little perfunctory, but that may be just because of how mad that clip makes me.

I'm not sure I can muster up the stomach to watch it, judging by your letter. Disgusting stuff.

i realize that most of that stems from ww1/2 etc etc...however, things like this certainly don't help.
i agree not all americans are tools, but the fact that they (and i use that loosely since it was a select few who did it, and not "all" americans) would even think for a second that this would be remotley hilarious definitely warrants several punches to the head(s).
so, i sort of have to half a$$ed agree with previous comment about americans wondering why everyone hates them.
as for equally dim canadians....i can think of a few PM's...just for starters...and can *sometimes* understand how americans could come to think canadians are dim.
luckily not all canadians are that dim either.

I think much of it stems from the self-absorbed superiority complex many of my countrymen seem to have. Where it comes from, I have no idea.

Is this making the news in the USA at all? Are the pundits talking about it?

I can certainly understand how some are feeling and fully support the OP.
But am I the only one that sees this for what it is? It is painfully obvious they are making a poor attempt at humour. I had to laugh at it not because it was funny, but because it was so ridiculous. We have all seen or heard the silly Canadian stereostype rhetoric before, it really doesn't bother me.
These people came off looking like idiots. I take comfort in that.

same here. its just really hard to come to that conclusion when the initial offence pretty much uses up my allowable daily intake of stupidity.
now that i've slept on it and am watching the news this morning before work and hear them talking about it, it still makes me angry, but i think even THEY after watching themselves back, know just how ridiculous they made themselves look.

Well, some more repurcussions:
http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/capress/0...l/fox_news_cda
And one of his fellow jokesters - a comedian who quipped that he wasn't even aware Canadian troops were in Afghanistan - was forced to cancel scheduled gigs in Edmonton.
Comedian Doug Benson had been slated to appear April 2 to 5 in Edmonton, which is home to a Canadian Forces base, but the venue owner asked him to stay away.

I don't know, I just can't get riled up over some idiot.
If I got hot under the collar for every moron and hack who said something stupid, I would have had 3 triple-bypasses already, and likely would have no hair left on my head (from pulling it out I wager).
I still think people have the right to say anything they want in a public place, regardless of the bigotry, stupidity, or pure hate behind their speech.
They are making no one look bad but themselves, and their employers.
Their actions will have repercussions, but we don't need to get up in arms about it.

If we didnt get up in arms over this their actions would have no repercussions. We have to let them know they went too far this time or this will become the status quo.

I had never heard about this guy or this show before this.
I'm guessing 99% of people had no idea this guy even existed before this, and now he is famous.
I'm wondering if this is a case of any publicity being better than no publicity, at least from his point of view.
This has probably done wonders for his ratings.

It's true that maybe Canadians are more well treated or respected in other countries but regarding this incident with Fox I know it's pissing Americans off too, so like others have said we can't label the country over a couple of second rate comedians.
