I'd take the current playoff set up over the old three division system that saw the league hand a massive advantage to the West Division teams.

Giants win Game 1 8-2. Snoozer after the 10:00 mark of the second period. Lance Bouma returned from injury tonight and had a goal, and was his usual pesky self.

The bad: Sexsmith wasn't great (again). Also, PG had 2 shorthanded goals. Was very impressed with Brett Connolly.

Prices are very high, especially for a pretty sub-par team still trying to win a fanbase.

Tickets in Calgary are $35 for club $20 for the rest of the lower bowl and $15 for upper, plus there are kids priced tickets, student tickets and lots of promos etc...

Edmonton is selling upper bowl for $17 each, lower bowl sidelines go for $29 a pop and lower bowl endzones are $25. No such thing as a kids ticket as well.

Looks like things got nasty in Brandon. Kootenay with a lot of penalties, and quite a few fighting majors in that game.

Yeah the Canes looked much better and the Blades didn't look very good. Metsola made a couple of good saves as well. Zac Boychuk is sure a great player.

Bunch of road teams rebounding tonight, except for Prince George, who are just getting slaughtered. 9-1 in the third, and the aggregate is at 17-3 thus far. Ouch.

I'd say Vancouver has a better chance of a sweep than the Hitmen, if such a thing is possible. Only Kelowna will stop them from making the West final.

Edit: Meant to say, "Only Kelowna will stop them from winning the West final."

The Giants would probably end up playing the Rockets in the West final. It's shaping up to be a Vancouver/Spokane or Vancouver/Seattle second round.

1-0 Oil Kings after 40 mins. The Oil Kings really out worked the Hitmen in that 2nd period.

Hitmen out shoot the Oil Kings 20-1 in the third period.

Jung has been amazing in goal for the Oil Kings.
