Old, old stately English, sons of ministers, an immigrant grandfather who may have been one step ahead of the law when he landed on the boat, later redeeming hmself as a war hero . . . . . and American via Scotland with maybe some Cherokee (legend goes) throw in from a less than reputable other side.

A true citizen of North America.

Parents were Irish. Typical Irish families of the times. Everyone emigrated. Australia, USA, Canada, S. Africa. After WWII....there was no jobs.

My parents came to Canada along with others. I now have more family here in North America than in all of Ireland.

Talked to an Uncle I never knew I had, last week. My Mother knew he was in Australia but until the internet the had no chance of communicating....or confirming either was alive.

Basically at the end of WWII...both were 17 - 18. My Mom was off to Uni and my Uncle decided that touring Australia on a Harley was cool.

Neither return to Ireland to live. My Mom married and came to Canada to be a teacher. My Uncle stayed in Australia as a worker on a farm(s)...touring.

They both came back to Ireland to visit family very occasionally. But neither visited reguarily or at the same time. Both had jobs and family obligations...Nor were there 747's or A380's at that time to et them ther less than 12 hours

Lastmonth my Mom and Uncle met for the first time in 60 years!!

German/Irish primarily, other stuff thrown in.

Native Calgarian, and a fifth-generation Albertan on Mom's side.

I'm English but also have Welsh, Scottish and if you go WAY back to the 11th Century (!) a tiny bit of French blood in there too! I guess an extremely distant relative of mine was a sidekick of William the Conqueror that invaded and conqered England in 1066, the last time England was successfully invaded. Hey, at least I was on the winning team!

Half Ukrainian, almost half Polish, and some Swedish and Jewish to round out the edges. I have a distinguishable widows peak, the kind you'd see on any Polska, but I do a good job at covering it up. But curse this Eastern European hair; I'm only 21 and I'm balding way beyond my age. Damn damn damn!

English, Scottish, Irish and a touch of French..

Great-Grandfather moved from England to the US when he was about 17 lived in Michigan. Then one day a recruiter for the army came by to ask him and his brother if they wanted to go fight in the Great War, so he said sure, but was a British citizen, so he had to go to Canada to join up, joined the front in September of 1917, spent a month there until one day he was sent on recon to no-mans-land and was promptly shot in the stomache. After that he tried making it back to Allied trenches and was shelled by the Germans, very disoriented he made his way to what he thought was the Allied trench, eventually finding it, but when he was asked what the password was he couldn't think of it and was shot in the mouth by a Canadian. Ended up settling in Sarnia..

Grandfather came from Scotland with his brothers and sisters after his father took them to London and left them there. The kids were picked up and sent to an orphanage, then later sent to Canada to work on farms.

Straight Outta Ireland, Very Odd fact though, lived in Northern Ireland on the very border, but were Roman Catholic. Pretty dangerous decision. I'm pretty sure this was the reason for our coming to Canada.

Mostly Dutch, with a little English and something else thrown in.

My Dutch grandfather was in a German labour camp in Holland during WWII. His family, my dad included, moved to Canada in the mid 50's.

I'm also related to Daniel Boone on my mother's side............my great grandmother's maiden name was Boone.

Mostly Irish, with a little bit of Scottish. Four generations ago the family immigrated to Quebec, then my Grandfather (fathers side) moved to Winnipeg and then on to Calgary.

I was born and have lived in Calgary my whole life. Father is the same story and my mother is from Hamilton. Not as sure about my mother's side.

Good topic Fotze

When I was a kid, I remember being told that I had Czech., English, Finnish, and Scottish blood in me, so I'll go with that. 4th generation Canadian as well. Your standard, run of the mill white boy from Canada. Interestingly, my last name (Rhine) is very German, but apparently I have no German heritage on either side. I've always wondered if perhaps one of my grandparents or great grandparents chose to ignore it, for some reason ? I'll have to trace my family history someday.

1/3 Irish, Scottish and somehow American....?

My family in Ireland were scribes to the court at some point,

My family in Scotland were sheep thieves,

My family in the US hid from the natives in sod houses.

This is why I seem to steal wooly items, write it in my diary, and run from natives when I see them.

Not sure why I drink so much, though....
