I find the chess one really hard to do properly. I can do the cross-eyed method (which usually inverts the picture but it looks okay on the chess pic) but not the normal way. The pieces and everything are so clearly defined, it's hard to stop my eyes from focusing normally and I guess that's why the paint blotch ones are more common.

I used to love these! I remember in elementary school when they first came out, we would have races to see them first and I was damn quick.
The animated one is awesome.

Well the cross-eye method works perfectly fine for the the 2D shark... so what if it's inverted! Funny you call parallel-viewing the normal method. For regular stereoscopic 3D content (not magiceye) the normal method is actually cross-viewing (because you're not as limited in terms of size-to-viewing distance).

nVidia has some sample movies here (and looky - they're cross-views!):

Rad! I'm usually pretty bad at getting those to appear but I got that one.

I've not once seen one of those 3D picture thingies, despite all my trying. I'm pretty sure it's a conspiracy against me.

Doesn't work very well when I stretched it for my desktop, unless there was a bigger version of it

That chess one is damn cool. But I wonder who would win? The guy with all the rooks and bishops or the guy with all the queens and knights?

I actually saw the moving shark for about 3 seconds, first time I've ever been able to see one of these, moving or still. Now I 've been staring at it for another 5 minutes and can't see anything. I'm defective...

I couldn't get it to work until I got the static shark to work.
Then I could get the animated one to work.

I think there is a bit of a skill to getting used to allowing your focus to shift. When it wasn't working, as soon as I would notice the shift it would lock back onto the original way I would see it. Once I was able to let the focus shift a bit, then I could see the "hidden" image and lock in on that.

I think the chess one is hard because since the original picture is a real picture it is very easy to go back to the original way I saw the image.
