I'm not sure I'd want to test out cans of beer on a flight, I once had some bags of chips and they blew up, sounded like a shotgun, gunshot sound in aircraft equals not good.

My sister tried taking a few botttles of HP sauce back to Denver. She got home and opened her suitcase to find the bottles had exploded with HP sauce on all her clothes.

That's absolutely incorrect. If you watch the flight attendant, she has exactly the same beer cans and bottles that you buy from the liquor store. You're paying $6 to cover up Air Canada's and West Jet's employee salaries. But like someone else said, it's just like being in a trendy club. Fork out another $3 and buy a crappy set of headphones and crank up the music!

I would agree, the high prices of food and beverage are used to help cover operating expenses, there is no special recipe.

I've taken lots of booze with me on lots of flights, cans or bottles. If they're bottles, wrap them up in clothes and inside bags in case they leak. With cans, wrap them up in case of leaking. They won't explode, you'll be fine. Don't worry. Just hide them between lots of layers of clothing.
