I can only presume they were given a couple of hundred bucks for supplies, meals etc and chose to use it on the promotion. However that would certainly be different than the last 2 seasons where typically the costs of promotions were subtracted from the winnings
It sure didn't sound that way when the BK Exec asked them about the funding for the trip. The implication seemed to be that 'Net Worth' would personally cover it... because they're so rich.

Man, one of my biggest beefs about last night's show was Trump acting so disappointed because the 'educated' Team lost. He pointed out that he expected that because of their college degrees, they'd automatically win. He even said that that _one_ challenge could make him re-think his high value on education...

Pretty stupid comment I'd say. Fair enough if they ALL have business diplomas, but it appeared as though there were a variety of backgrounds (lawyers?). I mean, if you match a doctor against a janitor in a sh*t shoveling contest, and the doctor loses, do you ask him if his education was a 'waste'? Seems more likely that he's just been trained in different areas, and while he's familiar w/ sh*t, he's not a professional shoveler.

My two cents on a new reason to hate Trump (for me).

Can someone explain to me how the High School team won, even though they only made less than $100 more than the higher-education team?# Surely they should have subtracted the cost of their trip to Vegas promotion from their total, right?# It's especially ironic that their team is called "Net Worth" but they only won based on gross revenue, not net profits.

If I remember right, they sold about 50 burgers more than the losing team and at $5 a burger, that's about $250 right there. About 180 burgers versus 130 for the losers.

I would assume the promotion cost of tickets came from that. Getting cheap tickets from a guy in an apartment with dogs that pee on the legs of the customers probably pulled the price down!!

Cowperson
good point, they did quite a few more burgers than the dollar difference...but usually they point out in the board room that they are deducting expenses

do you really think these burgers cost 5 bucks US? wow. you are probably right, but they better be good burgers [/b][/quote]
I don't think its cheap to eat in Manhattan, even at Burger King.

Just guessing though.

In any event, those plane tickets might have cost a lot less than you might think given the state of the airline industry.

I agree it would have been helpful to explain the math as I was sitting on my couch wondering what those tickets were going to cost and how that might impact the bottom line as well. Would they sink themselves by spending too much on promotion.

That guitar picking hillbilly who did the promotion for the other side was truly awful. But their whole group was terrible and nothing I saw held much promise for the future either. For the most part, the high school side was terrific but you can see where the personalities are going to crash at some point.

I don't think Trump is going to forget Mr. Potty Mouth repeatedly using the F word in front of Milania at that dinner in the basement. A little too country crude.

Apprentice is the only reality show that sees the light of day on my TV. I sit through the show just to see the boardroom bickering & Trump's assessment of the contenders.
That danny guy was freaking annoying. Even if he makes it to the final 2 or 4 because there is always someone else that screws up worse, there's no way in hell Trump will hire the guy.
I thought the little speach the leader of Net Worth dished out to the BK staff was pretty good.
The guy that was fired... What a goof. His taxi speach putting out word that he needs a job was just lame.

On a side note, anyone else think that Trump's colleague Carolyn & Linda Olsen from Global news were separated at birth?

Oh yeah, I don't think George is going to forget that llittle 'clone' statement by Danny in the boardroom.
And I agree with the distaste mentioned above about the f-bombs in the 21 club. You're not at a sporting event, buddy. You are in one of the most expensive restaurants in NYC, with one of the richest guys in the country. I'm not saying that he should be cowering & kissing ass, just save the f-bombs for beer drinking with the boys.

I think it goes without saying you could easily handpick 9 high school graduates and handpick 9 college graduates and have the net worth of the high school graduates absolutely dwarf the college grads (easy example: 9 NHL Players vs 9 school teachers)

as an example

you could also handpick 9 HS grads with more drive/streetsmarts/business then 9 MBA grads

I think a bit of that happened there...the college grads just look, frankly, like they have several morons on their team (although "F-bomb guy" on the HS team is no shining star)....

anyways I'm not going to value my university degree less if the HS team sweeps to victory...although I'm surprised the college crowd were as cocky as they seemed to be....the guys on the other team all looked sharp enough to me (in a reality TV kind of way)

I wasn't surprised at all when Trump revealed that the team without degrees earned three times as much. Afterall, graduates usually use their education to get a good job working for someone else, which is fine, but if you want to be really rich, the only way to do it is to start your own business. It's not surprising that many (most?) of the top 10 richest men in the world don't have degrees, including Bill Gates, Paul Allen, Larry Ellison, and Michael Dell. You could also count Steve Ballmer too, who finished his bachelor's degree but then dropped out of grad school to work at Microsoft.

I agree with all of this, but I'll throw in another reason also

the average Apprentice contestant is probably what? 30 years old

the college guys, many with graduate degree are probably 2-7 years into the workforce, whereas the High School guys may be 10-15 years into their business

remembering of course that these are a particulalry motivated and succesful group of HS grads they should be kicking the college guys' butt in net worth

It seems to me that in the past different weeks had different styles of competition. Some were based on "profit" where expesnes were in fact deducted and others were based on pure revenue where teams were given a defined budget they could spend to generate as much revenue as possible.

I just saw it as I had to tape it bc I was busy on Thursday.

I wanted Danny to be fired. I was disappointed that he didnt get canned. He was just so annoying.

I hope I have money to check out 21 someday when I get the chance to go to New York City.

Bump. For those who missed the premier, I think it starts on Channel 34 at 9pm tonight.

Is it a repeat of last week's show tonight, or is it a new episode? I remember a few times last year they had a new show on Wednesday instead of Thursday. Is that the case tonight?
