Meh, people just dont like change. It could turn out to be terrible, like Carson Daly(seriously why does he still have a show?), but I think he'll be alright. People were saying the same thing when Conan took over for Letterman. Hell his first 2-3 years most people hated him, and didnt think he was worthy to have his own show. I'm sure Leno heard the same things when taking over for Johnny Carson. And look how both of them turned out. People just need to not jump to conclusions and give the show a fair chance. It's gonna take him a while to get into his groove and get comfortable but I think he'll be ok.

If it's doesn't make me ROFLMAO after 10 minutes, I'm giving up on this show.

I watched a clip on the website, did not laugh. This is not looking good for them.

I don't usually watch late night TV, but it could happen to check it out.

I'm not sure if this is all an act or if he's actually fidgety/nervous... either or, it's annoying.

Mostly disappointing. JT saved it. Too bad.

I have to think though, why did they decide on Fallon to replace Conan's spot? He doesn't really fit the bill for a nightly talk show.

Ya, it really wasn't very good.

Justin Timberlake was the only one doing anything funny on the show. Obviously it will take more than one show for Jimmy Fallon to get into the groove, but he certainly didn't start off with a bang.

First of all Conan was popular and had a unique style, it will be very difficult for Fallon to replace him.

It'll take a year or so for him to get any good, or he'll just fail miserably and that'll be all.

You guys are being a little hard on him. Conan was nervous and everybody was saying how terrible and on the verge of cancellation he was back in '93 too.

Jimmy will shape up and the show will grow. The Roots are awesome BTW. Very funky. Totally ripped off a few Prince riffs but still cool.

Conan had never been in front of a camera when he started and had to learn had to be himself with millions of people watching.

Jimmy Fallon has long been in front of a camera and is plenty used to it, so the Conan comparison is way off.

Slow Jammin' the News was good. JT was good. The Roots were great. Van Morrison was great. De Niro was a terrible guest to start with - Fallon could barely get a word out of him. The comedy bits fell flat. It seemed like there was a laugh track - not good. By trial and error, they could find a formula that works.

Lorne Michaels tagged him for the job years ago. Lorne generally knows what he is doing.

Bottom Line: A typically stiff debut that nonetheless displays the host's charm and potential.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/0..._n_171322.html

A new era began Monday in the time slot commonly known as "12:30" (more accurately, 12:37 a.m. EST) as Fallon arrived with a new-era version of "Late Night," flush with his wired-up personality, a classy, comfy set and a super-cool house band, the Roots.

After the O'Brien bit, Fallon stepped on stage with a brisk, if forgettable, monologue, followed by a cleverer "Slow Jam" presentation of the news (bluesy and romantic, as accompanied by the Roots). After that came a comic tribute to the show's designated target demographic: Blonde Mothers.

A possibly recurring game-show spoof, "Lick It For Ten," invited three "contestants" from the audience to lick something _ a lawn mower, a photocopier and a bowl of goldfish _ for a $10-dollar prize.

And all that was before the first guest, Robert De Niro, who was game to play off of his reputation as a difficult interview.

http://www.suntimes.com/entertainmen...030309.article

‘‘Are you happy to be here?’’ Fallon asked De Niro.

‘‘I don’t know yet,’’ the actor replied.

Nor do many of us. It will take some real shows that aren’t the culmination of months of planning — before we can say for sure.
