Are they open 24/7? If so, then I'll jump in teh car and head down to the okotoks urgent care, and if they're closed then at least I'll know I can keep going to High River and it won't be a wasted trip.

Depending on how clean the gash is, you may want to slather it in Polysporin to guard against infection and keep the skin moist to limit scarring.
I recently opened my forehead up to the tune of 13 stitches, and kept using polysporin for 2 weeks after my stitches were removed to ensure there were no re-tears or infections.

Just when you thought you've seen it all on CP... you hear about Macs providing medical service to injured hockey players.

You could phone the number and ask how busy the emerg is.

F me is our health care that bad that someone actually thought about getting stitches done by some gas-jockey @ Mac's?

update: Phenomenal service down in High River, great, upbeat staff and only one guy ahead of me (a little punk who hurt his hand in a fight and was bitching about the fact that they wouldn't let a bunch of his friends come in and watch him get it stitched up).
I guess it was even worse than I thought, I came into town and a cop immediatly pulled me over for speeding. I showed her my lip and told her I was looking for the hospital and she abruptly turned back to her car and said 'follow me', she then proceeded to race towards the hospital like I was dying or something, lol.
Anyways, it ended up being 5 stitches on the oustide, and while the cut inside my lip was bigger, he left it alone as it would have been hell getting them out.
Thanks for all the advice, especially Dion, I probably would have waited hours at Rockyview (and felt like a ###### for being in the emergancy room for such a minor problem).

I used crazy glue on a monster cut on my head once, just squeezed the edges together and shot it with glue. I have a scar, but that things never going to reopen.

We need a poll to decide whether this idea or the Mac's surgeon is worse

Go to Strathmore, High River or Turner Valley. Tell them you were playing hockey there when it happened, or they'll freak out and send you back to Calgary.
Turner Valley is probably your best bet.

Here's another one that I saw done.
I had a friend of mine get ripped up on a barbed wire fence and we were a long way from a doctor, so we ran duct tape up both sides of the cut and then sewed the tape together. It worked well enough to get him to a hospital. Even though taking the tape off was probably painfull.

I actually know 2 Doctors that worked at Mac's but they currently work with me. They are not Medical doctors but have Phd's. I wouldn't be at all surprised if this was a legitimate Doctor who can not get board certified here in Canada.
I have a neighbour who is a pharmacist from Scotland and is working as a cashier at Rexall. Do you have any idea how expensive it is to be recertified as a pharmacist?
That's Scotland, where they speak English and use the metric system. Why is Canada so great that we couldn't recognise the standards of Scottish Pharmacists?
