Well, having worked for all three of the major communications company, I'd like to think I know a little bit.

Yes it does, but don't worry about me, my email works fine. BB seems somewhat idiot proof there. (Although, strangely enough, when I looked up my settings to post earlier I noticed that my shaw email account had somehow become invalidated on my phone and I had to revalidate it. Apparently I hadn't been getting my shaw messages on my phone for a couple of weeks. No big deal to me as I don't use that account that much and check it a home daily, but it was funny that I hadn't even noticed it until I looked up my email settings.

I was asking a techie friend about this very problem with my iPhone not getting email downloaded. He directed me to this thread. I don't know if he's a member here. Email is not being downloaded to my iPhone since switching from Telus to Shaw Internet. My incoming server is pop.shaw.ca and outgoing is smtp.rogerswirelessdata.com. Based on my review of this thread it should work.

My smart friend suggests Mobileme will solve my problem. I think I'll do that. Any further advice to solve my problem is appreciated.

As Barnes said in an earlier post, I would just go with GMail as it's free, unless you are looking for some of the other features in MobileMe. I just set up my Shaw account to forward all messages to GMail, and then set up GMail on my iPhone. Works like a charm.

All I want is the email routing capability so GMail seems to be a good option. I don't currently have a GMail address. Once I get an address, how do I configure it so that my email is directed to my iPhone? Is it a fairly simple process? I'm not a techie sort of guy.

It's in the gmail account settings. It's just like setting up any email account in an email client.

1. Set up a gmail account here: www.gmail.com

2. Go to your shaw mail and configure it to forward everything to your gmail address:

3. On your iPhone go to Settings --> Mail, Contacts, Calendars --> Add Account

4. Select Gmail from this list:

5. Enter your Gmail info

That should do it.

You have to set it up differently though if you want push notifications to work with gmail.

I don't want to start a new thread (I don't even think I'm allowed to anyways).

I can't for the life of me get my shaw webmail to work on my iphone. I've googled this contsantly and tried all the settings people have suggested.

Does anybody else have it working?

You don't need to make a thread. Someone has done it for you.

(and I have moved your post over to this thread.)

Who is your iPhone provider? Because on Bell I had to find another SMTP server.

Also, what is the exact issue? Can't set it up at all, trouble receiving, touble sending?

I have Shaw Webmail. I hit my Email button and wanted to set it up so I clicked "Other"

I put all the information in. Incoming server as pop.shaw.ca and I'm with Fido. I put the outgoing SMTP settings that somebody posted here in my outgoing option.

I got my user name and password in there. It says something when verifying about "Cannot connect using SSL"

It's pretty frustrating. I had no problems setting up multiple email accounts on my BB Bold with different email providers.

I do have a GMail account so maybe I'll try the method above.
