It's pretty simple really. Adjust driving to the conditions. Adjust the time for travel. Take every precaution vis a vis idiots. Don't accomodate idiots either. If they tailgate you slow down dramatically. Then at the next intersection just crawl out as slow as possible. Cheeze them off at every opportunity--it's part of your public education responsibility.
Spectacular wordsmithing!!

And as for your point, I couldn't agree more!! But not just SUVs, also work trucks. Like the big diesels that the rig pigs drive around with nary a tool in them. Even worse are Hummers. I just saw, quite possibly, the lamest Hummer ever. It was fricken purple with chrome all over it. Chrome handles, chrome latches (so, you know, you can pick it up with a helicopter), chrome covers on the tail lights... Seriously, who does that?

Working at home FTW !!!!!!!

And not to start a debate again but If I did have to go somewhere, my SUV with All season tires will get me there just fine.

Just adjust to the conditions people....(ie.....Slow Down !!!!!!!!!!!!)

I have a front wheel drive car, and I don't have any problems going over the speed limit on a day like today (not over icy bridges, but on straight freeways...). Other people should learn to drive and do the same.

Idiots are people who mess up the traffic for everyone else. My commute is usually 25-30 minutes, so let's say 30 when I follow the speed limit. On a day like today, if no one else was on the road, I could make the drive in about the same time, maybe 2 minutes more. I hate that it takes 2 hours extra because some struggler (thanks 4X4, I love this term) is having trouble keeping their brain and motorskills (excuse the pun, in this instance) up to par with those of us who don't get scared when the snow falls.

P.S. The snowflakes early this morning were quite beautiful... had that snowflake shape and everything!

Yep. I just saw a perfect example of a struggler... Going up 14th street, just north of kensington, there's a pedestrian light. Fairly decent northbound flow when a pedestrian hits the button. There's a car that is about 10 feet from the light and going at least 30 and he SLAMS on the brakes. The f'n pedestrian hadn't even stepped off the curb because he could see that cars needed to stop. Of course, the guy behind him rear ends.
Man, if I was the guy behind him I'd have blown a gasket. Some people are so bloody stupid it amazes me.

Haha, "not to start a debate again, but just allow me to reiterate my point from that debate we always have. But like I said, this is not to start another debate, so don't offer a rebuttel to my point, just listen to my point again and be quiet".

You're my hero JohnnyFlame! Well stated and to the point. Nothing ticks me off more than morons who don't know how to drive in the winter. Ohhhh and fwiw my late father used the same tactics you suggested when dealing with jerks.

It makes perfect sense ...

He is taking a jab at Nufy for essentially continuing the debate, even though he said he doesnt want to.

In this case, flameswin illustrates that Nufy wants to spread his viewpoint, but not debate, so all anyone can do is listen and not offer any rebutle to the viewpoint.

I found it funny... but then again, I agree with Nufy's stance. Everyone should have winter tires, unless they can choose not to drive (and excercise that choice) whenever it snows.

No, there was some guy who constantly said it and everyone thought it was funny. It started as a joke towards that particular incident, but then it took.

Check your PMs, flameswin.

I think it some young person that may have mistyped it. He made a particularly awful post and IIRC, KG retorted to it in his snappy way and at the end wrote "WDF indeed". It was pretty funny.
