Good Beers: Do I really need to say my favorite (?), then Hop Head from Tree Breewing, then the rest of the Big Rock beers.
Bad Beers: Bad beers? Well, Maudite, but only because the active yeast in the bottle makes me have an allergic reaction and stop breathing.
Good Strong Drink: Jack n Coke for Blues, Gin n Tonic for Jazz, straight dark rum for Metal.
Bad Strong Drink: Vodka with anything, corn-syrup liquor, moonshine (more because of what I do when drinking it...)

Moonshine is so nasty.... I was duped into chugging about 3oz. of that crap, and I almost puked.

flamesdyehard ... You've just had bad shine then. Good shine, kept in a freezer, is practically tasteless. Kind of like drinking good pure vodka, but even smoother. I agree with Trad though, the evil in shine is what a person turns into when you drink it.

Favourite beer: Smithwicks or Kilkenny cream ale (almost the same beer anyway)
Least favourite: Any kind of wheat beer. It is all crap.
Favourite hard liquor: Tullamore Dew. Of course Any XO Cognac, but that's not exactly price point now is it.
Least favourite: Tuaca or GrandMa. Both are terrible and make my stomach churn.

What exactly is 'shine? How is made? That stuff I had was unbelievably horrible. I mean, I think Drano would taste better. It hurt to drink, I can't describe how bad it was.

We've clearly had different experiences. The stuff I've had has been pretty smooth. I guess it all depends on the different recipes and levels of expertise in making it. I'd rather drink the moonshine I've encountered than vodka, gin, and cheap tequila or scotch.

Have you ever had home-distilled Grappa? Our Italian friends in Ontario make it, its poison.

Never, but I have heard of it. I have heard that it is some pretty rank stuff.

Maybe I should stay open to trying 'shine again sometime? The way you describe it, doesn't sound too bad. For me, it was the worst tasting thing I have ever put into my body (aside from chewing an Advil Liqui-gel, has anyone ever tried that?).

The only time I've had moonshine was at a friends house, whose dad was a Romanian. Not that that necessarily matters, but the crap we drank that night tasted like he got it from the pumps down the road at the Esso. Maybe that's how they roll in Romania.
As for the Bombay Sapphire fotze, it's one of the few drinks I like that the more alcohol I add, the better it tastes. I can't do that with rye or whiskey (which by the way, I still have no idea what the difference is).
I do like Crown Royal, Wisers, and Jack Daniels. Whether they are ryes or whiskey, I have no clue.

Yup. I imagine its a lot like what Borg-puke would taste like.

Rye is version of whiskey sometimes called Rye-Whiskey, or Canadian Whiskey. It is quite a bit smoother and sweeter than most whiskeys. Jack Daniels is a straight whiskey wheras Crown Royal is a rye-whiskey. There is quite a difference in taste, I prefer rye-whiskey but I know a lot of people who go the other way.

You can get it in the CO-OP Liquor stores on 70th ave SW & Macleod, or Heritage Plaza.

Actually, JD and other bourbons are corn whiskeys are they not? And there's also scotch and Irish whiskey, which are also part of the whiskey family. Scotch is made from barley, and I don't know what Irish whiskey is made from. Rye obviously is made from rye.

Yes, I think you are right. Rye whiskey is known as Canadian whiskey because I don't think it's produced anywhere else.
