It's a pretty good cast...of course you have Dushku but a lot of other "oh that guy" type actors. You've got the "guy from Homicide and Journeyman", "the guy from E.R.", "the gal from Rushmore", and "the gal from Angel", and "the guy from Battlestar".

Which gal? Fred or Cordelia? Or Elisabeth Rohm?

You know, I said the same thing to myself when I first watched FireFly..
I just finished watching and I really enjoyed it. My expectations were low but it was an enjoyable opening episode. And yes, I hit the pvr back button when that white low dress started to rise.

Its funny, I picked up all of the Angel and Buffy DVD's on sale. I just got through Angel and had forgotten how strong the writing was on that show.
Angel season 5 was such a strong ending for that season, especially the second last episode.

Joss Whedon is a brilliant man. I've loved every one of his shows thus far and i'm sure dollhouse will amaze also.
^Angel season 5 was my favorite by far also. Great season overall, I just wish they hadnt been canceled so suddenly. The final few episodes were very rushed to wrap the show up quickly. I think given 1 more season they could have made it even better.

Same here. On that note, how much better was the Buffy series than the movie? "Hush" (season four, episode #66) remains—in my opinion—one of the best single shows in recent television history.
I enjoyed the premiere, but like a number of others in this thread I'm surfe, were it not for Whedon and Dushku, I might not be inclined to continue watching. It's such a shame that this guy does not benefit from a wider platform; I would think that his shows would do so much better on the specialty networks than in the mainstream. Why does this not happen?

Just to dredge this up,
Doll house is apparently number 1 on itunes.
http://io9.com/5155387/dollhouse-fin...ence-on-itunes
and this 2nd article, where they go on that there's a Rolling Stone interview with Joss Whedon saying that he's pretty much done with network tv, and will start exploring web content.
http://io9.com/5154694/joss-whedon-done-with-television
Also makes me want to chase down one of the other webseries mentioned, Star Trek: The New Voyages/Phase II.

I enjoyed it, but expect it will get better as the season progresses. It's got a great slot sitting behind the Summer Glau Power Hour...er....Terminator. Someone said watching it gave them a huge Firefly flashback. I didn't get that in the least. Anyone else?

Caught episode 2 last night, guess it's not a good sign no one bothered to post about it...I'm liking the show though so far, I'm thinking it will pick up like others have said, only two episodes in and we've got a "big bad" for probably the season.

I liked it OK. The dialogue (usually a strength of Whedon's) was a bit stilted at times, but I'm willing to take a wait-and-see approach for another week at least.

watched it too, getting interesting. I think this will definitely get better and better as the show goes on and Echo's personality starts to build up from all the imprints.

I liked the episode, but its obvious that the implants aren't getting totally erased and that caused the problem with the Alpha who's probably hearing a bunch of voices, and it might happen with Echo.
I thought the episode was really well done, but the dialogue was a little awkward at time.
I was hoping that Amy Acker would have a bigger role in this thing as she is a good little actress.
Anyone else find it funny that the Dollhouse went from a scary organization that uses its agents in violent situations to a pimping service that basically sent its girl on a camping trip as a date?

Before watching the show I believe it was advertised as that, she's one of the dolls who starts realizing bit by bit what's happening to her. I guess I just assumed she would start remembering all her different skills to become like an ultra assassin.
Yeah, agree with Amy Acker, she's only given Guest Star credits also...
And the Dollhouse was a pimping service first when she was with the motor bike guy at begining

who's Amy Acker, is she the one that runs the place?
She kind of looks like Elizabeth Hurley, if it is.

Amy Acker plays Dr. Claire Saunders. In last night's ep she had only one small scene that I remember. Her face was slashed up in it. In the pilot ep, she was the doctor asking Echo if she needed a massage. I was really hoping for that scene to go in a different direction!
Oh and the one who runs the place is played by Olivia Williams (Rushmore)

Yeah, I was hoping for that in the one episode of Angel when Willow showed up and asked Angel if Fred was single.

While I like the show and the concept, I can see it quickly becoming a situation where the story line of Echo realizing her situation resolves itself and there is nothing left for the show.

Loved last night's episode, but I have to agree that usual high-octane banter Whedon is known for has really hasn't come through in the show yet - hopefully that will work itself out. Last night's episode really reminded of Dark Angel for some reason, another show woefully killed before its time. As was "Drive" with Nathan Fillion (Mal Reynolds in Firefly) - man was I mad that got axed after 4 episodes....

I'm betting she ends up on the run with the doll house chasing her.
She's the route in for the FBI.
I don't believe that Alpha is the big bad in this first year.
