In 2006 I went on parental leave for the full 35 weeks. I think I made 27K for the year while my stay at home wife made her usual 0. I had no problems paying our mortgage, bills, cars, and other necessary stuff. 27K translates to about 13 and hour full time.
So my living wage is about that.
Edit: That's Edmonton though, so add 50 cents for Calgary.
