My cousin got pregnant at 16, and her boyfriend at the time was 13. It was pretty messed up. I wasn't too involved since I was only 9 or 10 at the time, but even then 13 seemed young to me to be getting into that sort of thing.

NHL 96 was bad ass... I was always Chicago and this game was the reason my favorite player was Jeremy Roenick .
This is the one where you would flip it over the net, the puck would hit the glass, the goalie would go behind the net and the puck would come right back to you to score an empty net. I think I got Roenick 10 goals every game and still never got tired of it.

How nice for them. This will really enhance their playing "house".
Seriously though, while this is messed up, it kind of pales compared to octopus mom, the beheader dad and the human torch stories. There have been societies throughout history where their ages would have been considered normal to start having kids ... probably still are in the jungle somewhere. So while it's unacceptable by modern societal norms it's not all whacked out like some of the other shinguard that's been going on lately.

Meh, whacked out stuff has been going on since the beginning of time. We're just over saturated with media nowadays. I doubt last week was any weirder than the average week in any given time period.

True. My point was more that kids having kids is pretty tame stuff in the big picture of things.

Now, if the kid lit himself on fire...that....that would be newsworthy!

Yeah, I agree there.
I still can't get over that pic though. My brain just keeps going over those two thoughts I mentioned earlier like a negative feedback loop till my head feels like it's going to explode.

Exactly. Don't clutter the system with mundane crap like adolescent parents. Times are tough. There's a global recession. People are losing their jobs and homes. We need news with some serious shock value to distract us from our plight! Maybe a nun who has a baby, beheads it and then sets herself on fire. No wait ... a nun who has 8 babies, sets them all on fire and then beheads herself. That's the kind of thing we need!

1. It wouldn't take a lot of booze to cloud that 9 year-old's judgement
2. She did just squeeze out a kid, so probably not at her best
3. Yeah, she is real ugly

I think that's the big thing here.
The kid looks like he's 8 and is barely bigger than the baby. It's hard to believe he even had the physical ability to impregnate the girl (I'm sure the authorities will be running a DNA test to ensure that he is, in fact, the father).
If he looked like he was closer in age to the girl, or at least post-pubescent, there would likely be much less of a reaction towards the story. It would be just another teen pregnancy story, which isn't even really a story...Which makes you wonder how this became a story in the first place. It says that the kids' parents (now the baby's grandparents) tried to keep the pregnancy quiet to avoid the children being "demonised" at school. Now, they're suddenly all over the Sun.

But it gets better:
Quote:
Chantelle and Maisie were released from hospital yesterday. They are living with Penny, Chantelle’s jobless dad Steve, 43, and her five brothers in a rented council house in Eastbourne. The family live on benefits. Alfie, who lives on an estate across town with mum Nicola, 43, spends most of his time at the Steadmans’ house.

Bingo - they are looking for cash. The Sun certainly paid them, for one.
