So I kinda have a question... What's appropriate right now for valentines? I've been dating a girl for about two months now. And by dating, I mean that she's been staying over at least 4 nights a week for the last few weeks. Now, we're not some lovesick kids that are acting like the last few weeks are the beginning of the rest of our lives. But at the same time, it's pretty clear that we like each other and will probably be together for the foreseeable future until she discovers my crack habit (CP) or unless I discover that she is crazy or something...
So what's appropriate for a couple-month-old relationship on valentines? Dinner, obviously. But I don't think I'm going to go and buy her anything because it seems a bit ummmm...early. Of note, at some point we had a conversation about our common dislike for flowers. We both think that flowers are a big waste of money. But I kinda want to give her something... Something that says "I thought of you" but not go overboard.
I suggest answering the door in the nude.

I am going to be doing whatever newly single girls do... feel sorry for myself, eat some bad food and watch Sex and the City?

Or if I am lucky, I'll be able to brush it off like it is any other day... cause really, it is.

I try and have a Valentine's day for my wife every month or so. Shouldn't be limited to once a year for a smooch & a butt squeeze.

A friend of mine is having a singles party. And most of the girls that will be there are attractive. But I have a bit of a crush on the host, but we're solidly in the friend zone. Nothing some booze and Valentines day won't solve.

haha I see FireFly reading this thread, and hope she comes up with some good comments!

To 4X4... I think you should get her something. Maybe not flowers, maybe nothing too expensive or anything, but just so she knows. If a girl says she wants nothing, you still have to get her something. Every girl I've dated has gotten flowers on Valentine's Day, whether she "wanted" them or not. They never say no when you give them nice flowers.

So far I've got flowers... and spending time together for my Valentine. Hope she likes me.

Ikea sells Venus fly trap plants.

If you like getting people obscure presents for Valentine's day.

Wow, I am doing the same thing. Nothing better than when people are making out, look up to see Jason cutting someone's head off, and then start freaking out. AHAHAHAHA!!!

Single, no plans except to go skiing with some buddies that weekend.

Also, the obligatory, where is the best place to get roses - the answer is COSTCO.

Forgot to mention, this day is a great day to break tension you may have with a coworker that you want to ask out but dont want it to be akward.

Alot of Valentine shops sell these 8" high stuffed animals, that are holding a few roses. Its not expensive, and its gold jerry gold for breaking that tension IMO.

It's not Astroglide is it?

I'd actually totally forgotten about V-day this year. In fact, now that I think of it, it doesn't seem to have been marketed as heavily this year. Maybe the bitter people are winning.

As a single person, I'm going to sit in a corner of a darkened room while some sappy crap plays louding on my stereo sobbing. While loading a revolver with a single bullet that I shined up for the occassion.

Then I'm going to play pingpong.

Playing ping pong using loaded revolvers might be kind of dangerous if you get any good rallies going!

Just an idea: Use a paddle!

Nah usually its death metal. Considering the occassion, I thought I'd be romantic.

Well played.

For myself, this will be my first Valentines day since I was divorced, so no prospects.

My girlfriend is away, so I think I'll get drunk and cry and listen to Jann Arden's "Insensitive" over and over.

Save Us Sutter, don't come knocking on my door this time!
