I prefer the news articles titled: "Christian goes American Psycho"
I was a huge fan of his back when he wasn't popular in like 2000 after I saw American Psycho and Equilibrium. Then Batman Begins came out and suddenly everyone liked him. Then I saw Rescue Dawn and it dawned on me how terrible unsuited he was to the role and how annoying his fake accent was.
He is a true to life classic method actor. The things he put his body through for American Psycho (ate nothing but chicken breasts for 5 months), for the Machinist (his daily meal with coffee with heavy cream. Hardly ate anything else). For Batman Begins (after going down to like 80 lbs for the Machinist, he gained all the muscle back). When he played Patrick Bateman, he stayed in character for the whole shoot. Didn't socialize outside, and never used his welsh accent even with the crew who were subsequentely confused when he reverted back to the real Christian Bale at the wrap-up-party. When he played Batman, his trailer door said "Bruce Wayne" and not "Christian Bale".
He takes his craft a little too seriously sometimes. When doing an art film like American Psycho or the Machinist...sure. But I scratch my head sometimes when it comes to Batman and John Connor. He's dedicated though.
Regarding this clip though - what it really says is that Bale is in charge and the director has no control of the set. The actual Director (MacG or whatever his name is) should be reigning both in as this outburst is a worse distraction to the cast and crew than a director of photography wandering in the background. The director has lost his team just like Craig Hartsburg!
I don't think anyone blames Bale for being upset. Sometimes it takes hours or days to get a scene just right and you don't want someone blowing it twice because they wander onto the scene and aren't paying attention. He went way overbored though.

I hear worse then that on a weekly basis, no big deal. Apparently it happened a couple days prior to when he allegedly assaulted his mom and sister. So who knows, rough week?
I don't know his personality, don't care to know his personality. He's a great actor and that's all I really care about. Like I've said before, I don't need to like the people I cheer for/watch on screen.
Hack, you forgot The Prestige. His best acting gig to date IMO.

Nothing actually happened there. That incident was his mom trying to get attention and create trouble. No charges were laid. Apparentely his mother was saying something very backhanded and nasty about his wife.
The Prestige was a pretty good movie, one of the few where he isn't using his "based on his lawyer" American accent. One of this best was Empire of the Sun with Spielberg when he was like 11 years old though.
I don't really think this is a big deal. Sure it's childish and over the top, but then again I feel like doing this about once a month to somebody in my office. I'm sure if I carried some weight around here I wouldn't mind freaking out on somebody every now and then. Not saying that makes it an ok thing to do, just saying that I probably can't judge him in this instance.
I don't think the light guy was just doing his job ... I would imagine part of his job is to keep out of the way.
On a side note, every time I see anything about TMZ it makes my blood boil, they are the anti-Christ. I love how on the show they talk down the actors like they're better than them, yet their entire lives revolve around these people. Who's better than who again?
If I had stayed in broadcast journalism and ended up as any form of entertainment gossip reporter, I'm pretty sure I'd have taken my own life...or the lives of my co-workers first.
I can't access the tmz site from work but the youtube remix is outstanding. There are some talented people on the internet.

If the dude is just being oblivious and affecting Bale's work then yeah, tell him about it.
I'm not an actor but I imagine that it would be very difficult to get into character and into a scene and then get brought out of it by some jerk-off.
I am not an actor either...but the guy is playing a role in Terminator! What is all of this "getting in character" talk about. Kids play make believe every day with all kinds of distractions!
