damn, I want some kraft dinner now but I still have to finish my casserole dish full of mashed potatoes and canned corned beef.
I thought that would have been a good idea give how corned beef hash tastes but mashed potatoes and a can of corned beef results in basically a uniform pink colored paste resembling something that used to be in your stomach and now you have to put it back in.

Nope. The guy who bought it was busy laughing at the three of us who were puking.
I didn't think it could get any cheaper than KD, but that other stuff was like 25 cents a box or something stupid like that. However, we've learned to splurge on KD now.
I think it might have had something to do with the fact that we tried making it in the microwave. Even real KD isn't as good if it's done in the microwave.

that is the most disgusting way of cooking KD or generic KD that I have ever heard. Can't even imagine, stovetop doesnt take that much longer that microwave.

I'm going to start out by saying, when I originally saw this thread, the first thing that came to mind was: You have to be kidding, recipe for KD? You cook it, you eat it, its really very simple, even college kids can do it.
However, in response to you being forced to eat KD by the Machiavellian machinations of a devious 9 year old, here is what I propose:
Its high time that these free-loading loafers, known commonly as 'children,' get a taste of the real world, where people eat this vile substance out of pure necessity rather than choice.
So, what you do is feed this guy the most despicable crap in the known universe, KD with SPAM (or SMEAT, whichever is convenient) and the cheapest, oldest, crappiest bread you can lay your hands on, probably that Pumpernickel crap, no one buys that. Add extra salt if you go with SPAM, if you exercise the SMEAT option that crap typically has enough salt in there to kill a Whale. I caution you, this is a very potent recipe which may have the unintended side-effect of having the kid swear off going to college forever.

This is fairly accurate. Or:
1. Cut a hole in the box....

Good advice. The generic stuff is actually just a cleverly disguised form of anti-hobo poison.

You would be surprised. I guarantee it.

Well the whole issue is that we're living in rez and don't have access to a stove...so all of our food is one of three things: premade from the dining centre (blecch) or a restaurant, microwaveable, or a sandwich. It's a good thing I like sandwiches.

I used to live in a rez in high school and learned the high art form of cooking KD in the mic thru necessity - aside from not having a strainer and losing pasta trying to strain the mess, it never tasted any different from reg stovetop KD. I feel for your situation Berger!

Yeah I don't know what we do wrong, but it consistently tastes like crap. Either the noodles are too soft or too hard...but when I go home and make some it tastes perfect and delicious...I dunno how we can screw it up, but we really are doing it well.

On a side note, I've legitimately been told by several people at different times that I make the best KD they've ever had. I don't know if that's a compliment or really depressing.

Everyone has to be good at something... Stick with what you know...
I like tuna and hot dogs and ground beef (not all together). I've made the mexican type with ground beef, spices, onions. That tuna casserole receipe near the top sounded good.
I like to take one box regular and one box white cheddar and mix them together. I also often like to add shredded cheese and pepper, maybe a little garlic salt.
I also find the superstore 'gormet' brands are pretty good and they are usually 25 to 50 cents cheaper.
I really don't get the ketchup deal though. I know it's a popular addition but I just can't stomach it.

one delicious recipe:
KD
Hot rooster sauce found in most viet restaurants (sriracha?)
another:
Half-cook KD noodles
throw in ichiban noodles
strain when both noodles are cooked
add cheese powder and ichiban spices (original flavour only)
enjoy ichiKRAFT

I know your just trying to be funny and truly you love the stuff like everyone else
If not know this, next time you go to a nice restaurant and order a nice $15 pasta dish, the pasta and sauce likely cost less to make than a box of this garbage called KD.

I've tried all kinds of bbq suaces and hot sauces, including sriracha, and the only condiment that I've ever found that works with KD was ketchup. It's been years since I've had it and I don't even really like ketchup but everything else I've tried was just weird when added to KD.
