Text rules. I love it. Often, I prefer it to phone calls. The advantages are many:

- you can think about your reply before sending it: "shut up, bitch. I'll do whatever I want" DEL DEL DEL "You're right, Honey. I shouldn't have told your dad that I did you in the ass"

- you don't have to reply at all if you dont want to: "___"

- if you receive a message, the sender doesn't know if you've read it (unless you're on that ungodly menace known as BB messenger): "what are you doing tonight?" *not you* "______" "_______" "Um, I've got to go to my parents' place for dinner"

- a conversation can slowly go on all day or night: "hey there, new chick that I'm infatuated with, you're hot" __________ "so are you"_________ "wanna do something later?" _________ "yeah, you!"

- you can receive information without risking answering the phone (especially useful when you kinda don't feel like going out, but you may be open to certain things, so answering the phone is a definite NO because you don't wanna have to SAY no to anybody, but if the activity is texted to you, you can consider whether you feel like doing it and then reply)(or not reply): "wanna go get some hookers and blow?" ____________ "yup"

- perfect for instant updates... example: NFL week 16 I was really interested to know whether Detroit was going to lose but couldn't watch the game so my buddy kept texting me every time someone scored: "7-0 GB" _________ "14-0 GB" ________ "14-7 GB" _______ "14-14" _________ "21-7 GB" ________ "0-16!!"

- also perfect for updates such as "at the lights 3 blocks from your place... Come outside"

- perfect for communicating with someone when you're in a large group, but actually saying what you want to say would be inappropriate: "This party sucks, and that chick is annoying as f***. Lets get out of here!"

- perfect for proposing booty calls: "I'm hammed! Wanna come over??"

- perfect for denying booty calls: "I just looked at your latest facebook pics. Looks like you ate a school bus for dinner. I gotta work early"

- perfect for apologizing: "really sorry about that school bus crack last weekend... I was drunk and my buddy dared me to say it. Wanna come over?"

- perfect for reminders: "Hey Hon, we're all out of crack. Can you stop and pick some up on your way home?"

It's you don't want to challenge them to a thumb war.

I think its funny that we've advanced to where you can have a telephone with you at any time, anywhere, and now we're reverting to essentially a mobile telegraph.

There's a time and a place a text message is useful, but a lot of kids I see out there could get all the info exchanged a hell of a lot faster if they just called each other.

If her dad was paying that bill and slaughtered her with a chainsaw I'm pretty sure no jury in the world would convict him.

I text quite a bit, but it is barely 10% of this girl's output.

4x4 is right on the money btw.

I probably do about 600 a month. I did 100 in a day once and that was a lot. That was pretty much non stop texting from 4pm until midnight or so.

Glad i'm with Fido. No incoming text charges and unlimited outgoing texts!
