Just to add my 2 cents. I have owned my current Dell Laptop for the past 3 years and it still runs relatively well. So they are fairly reliable. My only disaster was when I kept it running and packed it away then drove from moms house to dads, opened it up and the HD was all effed up. But that is because I was dl'ing, etc. so totally my fault. Phoned them and they sent me a new one, had in 2 days!
But it is quite heavy, battery only lasts 2 hours, and my F2 key broke off
. However for $1200, it was by far the best decision I could have made, this is when Core 2 Duo JUST came out, I mean I bought my laptop 2 days after it came out. You could probably get one similar spec'd to mine for $800.
And no, mac is not "cool", I own dell, and I am much cooler. :P
