I came back to work from my Christmas break last week with a certainty that this will be the last year I work this job. I'm still feeling fairly resolved about that, but we'll see how it holds up eleven months from now.

I'm taking a leave of absence to backpack through Japan from February-April. Anytime I think about work I know I only have about four weeks left haha...That helps me get through the day.

I'm happy that everything is back to normal. Everyone is back at work, people answer phones when I call, businesses are open, accountants and service people are working, emails are being read, invoices submitted and PAID... And to top it all off, it's a beautiful day weather-wise...

I found out today that I'm looking at 252 hours of working for a client in Edmonton. I REALLY hope that I can do as much as possible remotely instead of traveling there.

I got about 4 hours of sleep last night because I modified my sleep to a vacation schedule of staying up late and sleeping in. I'm on my 3rd coke now...

I've been off since the 17th and today was my first day back so it took me about 2 hours to go through all the emails and sort everything properly...
Suggested ending a meeting early today just because I didn't feel like continuing and everyone agreed lol...

The place I work was sold. I should be there prepping for inventory for the new owner. Don't want to. So I'm at home. I'm finding it very hard to care right now and that is totally against my nature. I hope I rebound soon, because I hate this state of mind.

I've already had three people walk up to my desk looking for password resets. Two that "lost" equipment, one that blew up their computer and one that whined about their monitor sucking.
Now, in the last case, I usually wouldnt care. However, they had an old CRT, and we are about to replace them with new LCDs. More importantly, we are about to replace them with 22" widescreens, which just arrived this morning. Thus, I was more than happy to give this whiner a 17" LCD, which is the current standard. Since they no longer need a upgrade, they won't get the new model until their PC needs replacing.
Take that whiner!

If you do have to come here, there is a small community of Edmonton based CPers to make your life here a little more bareable

I am already frustrated...I am supposed to be working on a project, except no-one from the project team has bothered to update me on what is happening and what it is they need me to do...

Going back for the first day after about 2 weeks off was bad, but today was the first day my wife is back to work after having our child last January. As bad as it is for me, I'm sure it's a completely different world for her, new faces, new policies, pretty much a brand new job all over again.

Nothing like the first work day of the year to have layoffs. I fear I'm next...

That's funny!
What was the occasion.
My son would freak out, he has a terrible aversion to styrofoam, lol.

Apart from Christmas and New Years Day, I worked all of the last two weeks, but with a screwed up schedule because of everyone else asking for days off, so I'm one of those that's glad to have a routine back.
Also I don't work on Mondays, so I'm spending today doing a whole lot of nothing.

Not only did I not have holidays except for the 4 day long weekend that was Christmas, and the day off on New Year's, I took work home with me last weekend. I'm actually relaxed today as we're right on target. Yay me!

I spent the last 6 days working 10-12 hours each on the basement renos.
I yearn for the relief that work will bring me.
OK, not really.
