It's been a different experience for me. I have a laptop and PC that have both managed my iPod. In addition, I've plugged in my iPod to two others' computers because they wanted to transfer certain songs on my iPod and it worked without any problems. I just always make sure to have "manually manage" on and it always seems to work.
