I'm confused at any bad review, I have had many phones and have tried out a few blackberrys in my day but have never been so happy with a product as this Storm. What could people come up with that is negative?
I can't find it.

Wait 6 months, like all phones that's when the problems seem to come out. If you don't have any problems after that you are good to go.

6 months? the battery may get weak but usually any piece of electronics show their problems long before that if there's going to be one.

Usually a piece of electronics, yes. But a cell phone seems to act differently, maybe because it is used daily and abused in our pockets, dropped, etc.

The initial reviews were not good for the Storm. I have played with a few recently and it looks like they have fixed the initial problems with new software. I think experienced BB users could find it a bit of a challenge at first. Typing seems ok, especially with the key lighting up when you press it. No track ball could be anoying. I would like to see a Storm version with a track ball.
I hear it comes with Documents to Go premium edition. Is that true?
Edit: Just had a customer in with one. I see that it has Word, Sheet, and Slideshow to go included.

Had a guy at work today with a Storm, toyed with it for a bit, and it is a good toy, but I still prefer (need) a physical keyboard for my blackberry. I'll have my Pearl for work for atleast the next little while, but if I could have my pick, I'd go with a Bold. The 9000's are beautiful blackberries. Perfect for me.
Also, I have enough of a problem keeping my screen clean from my grubby fingers, can't imagine having to touch the screen to use it constantly. I'd go insane.
But these aren't knocks on the Storm, just my preference for a physical keyboard. It's the reason why I don't like the Iphone, and just prefer that device as an Ipod Touch.

Telus told me it was $400 to lose my garbage samsung phone and upgrade to this. Fugggg that, it looks decent, but after playing with one for a bit the iphone is still much better. I guess if it was cheaper I would justify having one. But for $400 when I could jump to rogers and get an iphone for $250 it seems stupid.

There is a track ball...your finger is the track ball scrolling on the touch screen.

I had the BB Pearl before. The ball kept getting stuck and it was getting worse because I could not access any applications.

You're suppose to clean it every once in a while so it doesn't get stuck. Or at least I do...

I would like the option of a trackball as well as the touch screen. Without a trackball it is a two handed device. I find the most annoying thing about the Storm in the few instances that I have played with it, is the touch screen portion. It probably takes some getting used to, but I find myself accidentally selecting either above or below what I really want to push.

In my Times print column, I reviewed the BlackBerry Storm, by far the worst product Research in Motion has ever produced. I had problems with its concept, problems with its clicky touch screen, problems with its speed, and above all, problems with bugs (which the company refused to acknowledge, even when I sent them videos of the phone acting up and even locking up).
About 100 readers wrote to say that they had bought the Storm and now regretted it.

How did this thing ever reach the market? Was everyone involved just too terrified to pull the emergency brake on this train?

EDIT: With the release of the latest software update in early December, some of these problems appear to have been resolved by RIM.
