I drive to Calgary pretty frequently from Red Deer. This is the site I use if the weather looks bad. They have real time road camera's on a few of the over passes. Gives you somewhat of an idea of what the roads are like aside from the posted reports.

it wasn't my end destination - just a stop over on the way to visit my parent for Christmas in NE BC.

Road to Edmonton was actually very good - same cannot said for me - was sick as a dog when I got to Edmonton (not sure if it was me or the city).

Roads West of Edmonton were actually really bad - around Whitecourt - there were many vehicles in the ditch despite the roads being bare (and looking dry) - there were many places where there was black ice.

I drove today as well, from Edmonton to Calgary. Roads were perfect. A few cars in the ditch, but all in all it was pretty good. Got in town just In time to go and see the Flames game.

I too made the trek last night. Its scary for the first 20-30 min, after that you loosen up and realize you have some traction. took me 3 Hours 15 min, Avg spped of 102KM/H. The thing that pissed me off the most is the huge ass trucks that still feel the need to go 140/150 and ride your ass....

There's a shocker. Few things infuriate me more than idiots in pick-up trucks that drive in winter conditions like its July. There's a reason why trucks/SUV's are involved in the most single-car accidents this time of year. Serves em right for drivin like complete yahoos.

I was actually supposed to make the drive today(Edmonton to Calgary), but I seem to have caught a nasty flu yesterday so that's not happenin. I'm gonna try to go next week though, hopefully road conditions are the same(or better).

I just got back into Edmonton. Roads were fine until I hit leduc and then it got a little hairy. The Anthony Henday in Edmonton and the Yellowhead are pretty bad as well, but all in all things were ok.

Haha! Someone dropped an ounce of red tint into your gallon of blue paint. Be careful or you'll end up like Blaster86.
