I know, but being a Saskatchewanite I conveniently forget that. My home city (the vag) could never be a haven for crime. Even if their crime rate rivals that of Detroit (made that last part up but I know it is high).

A Statistics Canada report released this week ranked the rate of vehicle theft in the Calgary area as fifth-highest among Canadian municipalities.
<snip>
Calgary's numbers pale in comparison to Winnipeg, which recorded the nation's highest auto theft rate: 1,714 thefts per 100,000 people.
Abbotsford, B. C, Edmonton, and Regina also had higher rates of vehicle theft than Calgary in 2007.

Someone tried to steal my Duramax a few months ago, and all they succeeded in doing was punch in my lock. Then it got road salt in the hole. And yesterday, my door handle snapped off.
I love thieves.

They didn't wreck your ignition by trying to jam a screw driver in it?

I think the Neons are easy to get into because of the way the door is designed.
The top of the window isn't actually part of the door. It's rolls up into the frame from what I can remember.
Does that even make sense?

What are locks? I had them at one time, but they serve no purpose when someone can cut your plastic windows with a knife, or unzip them from the outside. The joys of owning a Jeep.
I actually had someone break into my Jeep by cutting the window, all they got were my CD's I now no longer keep anything of value in it.

I own a jeep Wrangler too - just keep the hard top on it. I've taken my soft top right off and store it in the garage - I don't use it. If I take the hard top off, I make sure that I'm not going to park my jeep in some mall parking lot or where I'm not going to see it for a while. It doesn't take that long to remove the hard top or to put it back on, so in the summer, depending where I'm going, I am constantly removing or reinstalling it. It's a bit of a pain, but, at least it is more secure. Let's face it though - if someone wants to steal it - they will.

There are many cars designed this way, including BMW 3 series (and maybe more). Nothing wrong with the design itself.

I believe that cars produced for the Canadian Market post Sept 2007 all have Engine immobilizers in them, which means, without the correct key and computer chip inside the key, you cannot start the engine.
