They need to make a rally where you can protest all of these jokers.

Exactly, where's my rally for "none of the above"? Real change is needed.

It was also nice to see a mix of young and old, it surprised me to see how many college age and early 20's people were there.
I think when I got there there were 2000 people at least. And every train both brought people and took them home. 2500 might have been the peak crowd, but I'd say many more were there overall.

One thing to add... someone at the interfaith food bank is a genius for setting up out at the protest. They had two donation boxes that were just stuffed with money by the time it was all said and done.

At least we know that if the New Liberal party gains control and kills our economy that the food bank wont be bare.

Of course the Conservatives are part of a coalition (IF they want to hold power). Of course they have relied on an informal coalition (with a minority cabinet) so far, versus a formal coalition (with a coalition majority cabinet), but that makes it no less of a coalition.

They need votes from outside the party to hold power/survive a confidence vote. Some other party has to vote along with them, whether it be NDP, Liberal or Bloc.

If they had a majority government the current situation would not be possible.

And if the Conservatives themselves had better grasped this and better played with one of the others (like forming a formal coalition, versus aligning the interests of all other parties against them) none of this would have happened.

A whole lot of group-think going on out West it seems....

Claeren.
And you and the east are immune to all the group think you see out here?

Great, I'll get on a plane go east for 4 hours and be twice as smart as I am now? Or did I have to grow up there as well?

Wow, all this money I pay to subsidize the east and not that I need a thank you, but I definately don't need this.

Anyhow...I have a feeling this one will be poorly attended after the decision to prorogue for a couple months.

The issue has lost a bit of its passion....and with Xmas in the air, people busy attending to those kind of things, etc.
I walked through that yesterday on my way to the passport office. I think there were more media people than supporters.

I am not out East so i don't know!? I am out West though and watching my friends turn red when I remind them that the Conservatives did not actually win the last election, and thus have no more of a real claim to power than any other group without a coalition, is hilarious.

I am actually not a supporter of the Liberals or NDP.

I am marginally a supporter of the Conservatives (fiscal policy wise), although I hate with a passion my own MP Rob Anders.

In fact I was so cornered in the last election I didn't even vote (despite being quite politically engaged). I was NOT going to vote Liberal or NDP (or Green) but I was not going to vote for Anders either. I DO wish there was someone I could have voted for though.

And group-think and 'smarts' are two different things. Very smart people can get into a bit of group think.

At the end of the day though there is nothing illegal or undemocratic about 51%+ of the seats in the House forming a Coalition. It is certainly no worse than the very questionable move to completely suspend government so that it does not happen!

I do enjoy it all from a pure political perspective though! I guarentee that inside the Conservative Party they know this is all totally legit and their appeals that it is somehow illegal or unconstitutional are pure gamesmanship.

(I am guessing the Conservatives come out of this with a fragile minority government again and hold power for about 6 months before another election, an election that will be far more interesting and engaging than the last one.)

Claeren.
I understand the difference between smart and group think, but what you say sounds like it is only possible for group think to happen in the West. There may be things that happen more in one region than another, such as a sense of entitlement to gov't handouts and 'funding' but group think is a human thing, not a West, or Alberta thing.

I understand that the CPC didn't win a majority, but looking to form a gov't w/ the bloc turns a mainstream party into a fringe party that would sell their soul or their mom for 5 more votes.
