When you are on your first toon and have been playing a month you have no idea Dire Maul exists, so your frame of reference is limited.

See you there!
I plan on taking my 70 druid first, then my 70 shaman, and then a DK. The DK zone is going to be flooded with noobs at the beginning.

Hmmm... anyone going to lineup at Chinook tonight?
I did that last time with BC. Then I got home at 1:30AM and spent an hour installing, patching, fiddling with my UI... then crashed and woke up the next day to go to work.
This time around, I think I'm just gunna pick up my preorder Thursday afternoon.

Question: if you pre-purchased, why do you need to line up? Isn't that the idea of pre-purchasing, guaranteeing a copy so you don't need to line up x hours early?

Welllll... With BC, there were some questions about stock levels since the preorder was sold out (at some places) weeks before launch. There was also (for some people) the whole "being excited enough to want to get it and play all night" thing. I was in a pretty heavy-duty raiding guild, so I just wanted to make sure I got my copy on time. I've since chilled out on the whole WoW thing, and reorganized my priorities a bit. I left that guild and now I just pretty much roll on my own. I log in whenever I want, no raid times, no required gearing up and mat farming etc. Much less stress!
Anyway, I have a buddy who plans to lineup tonight to pick it up. I told him he's going to regret it, but whatever. It's all good I guess.

That's pretty much it for me, but I won't be playing all night.

I have a copy reserved, but I'm not sure if I'll go to the midnight launch or not. I certainly won't be playing it tonight, but I was thinking I could pick it up and start the installer before going to bed. That way I'll be ready to play when I get home from work tomorrow evening instead of having to install/patch/etc.

Ok, I just wanted to find out if EB was doing something weird. I know EB has had issues in the past with not getting enough stock, but that was usually hardware. I didn't think there would be an issue with software.
And did anyone else notice the new instance in CoT? I guess it is Old Strat, and if you try to go in you are told you must have WotLK and be at least lvl 75 to enter. I noticed it was in place on Saturday, when I was helping some guildies in BM.

Yeah, that new entrance in CoT has been there since the 3.0.2 patch.

I'm always a little apprehensive about being one of the first to try out new games and expansions. You just know that there are going to be bugs and patches for the next little while and I'd rather let other people be the guinea pigs.
Especially with all the patches leading up to the expansion and the downtime recently, I don't have a lot of faith that the expansion will run smoothly from the getgo.

The bugs and patches I can handle. It's the constantly changing UI code that drives me bonkers.
...and actually, now that I think about it, I might pick mine up tonight too now that I've remembered about the whole install/patch thing.

That's the trick eh? 2 hours to install the game, I would rather do that tonight, instead of tomorrow night when I want to be playing!

Bingo to both above and that is my plan as well as probably 5 million others haha.
The Bugs i don't think will be as bad as in the past. Blizzard has stated that this recent downtime was directly related to a problem that occurred in the maintenance involving the mail system. I can imagine all the blizzard guys freaking out yesterday because they had a problem 2 days before release. This game will be huge.

Just an Update.
All World of Warcraft Forums are currently set to Read-Only. This is in anticipation of the release of WOTLK and should basically help the servers for WOTLK. Plus Blizzard can inform the population of anything without people complaining.

Keeping my main: Horde (of course), Druid. Will be creating a death knight at some point, but I don't know how long I'll keep it for. Druids are just too damn cool, especially with a 2 talent spec limit!
Leveling as a feral. Casters are lame. And healers are painful to level.
I'm most excited about inclusion of the main story line into the play of all characters. We all get to see the cool stuff rather then just the hard core raiders.
OP class for pvp remains rogues. I hate rogues. People who play rogues have something fundamentally wrong. No class should be able to lock another player down AND be able to kill them in that time period. One or the other. Just saying.
UP... dunno yet. Each class seems viable now. But PvP is a tiny part of the game. For PvE all classes seem on equal footing according to their abilities.
Planning on picking a copy up at some point tomorrow if I get a chance. Anticipating that the servers will be down a lot this weekend though, so I'm not planning on playing a lot for the next week. Plus... I hate competing for quest mobs with the 20 billion alliance n00bs that are on my server. God damn Alliance.

Just spoke to someone who was testing beta in the final phase and he stated at lvl 80 right now in Beta (3 or 4 builds ahead of release) it is the most balanced he has seen this game in both PvE and PvP. This is fantastic news for the WOW community.

Yeah, rogues kind of drive me nuts too. I went questing with a couple, and all they did was "stealth" their way through most of the dungeon leaving me to be piled on with my hunter (which is best used for ranged fighting - not close-in melee combat). It's good when they sap the enemy and then let me pull them, but it's not easy enough for people who play as rogues I guess...

There was an interesting Slashdot article a little while ago. http://interviews.slashdot.org/artic.../10/15/1639237
Quote:
What we've claimed, and what we've stood by, is that we don't balance the classes in PvP in a 1v1 scenario. We have zero expectation that every class will be able to beat every other class. The key, and the real core to our arena tuning is making sure that tuning the classes in the arena doesn't step on the toes of the classes in other parts of the game.

Wintergrasp sounds interesting.
And what does this mean? "Wintergrasp can only be reached by flying mount, which is only available at level 77" (from WowWiki)?
There is a new flying level at 77?
