EDIT: or a used Dell 2005 or 2007FPW which has an S-IPS panel.
The thing is when you get into the $500 + range, you may as well buy a 32" TV with S-IPS or VA panels. You can get a 768p for $600 or a 1080p for $800 if you look around.

The S2209 looks interesting with it's 1920x1080 resolution but I don't see any reviews with it. Dell has free shipping and their warranty is good. I recently had to replace a 1907 monitor and they shipped out a new 1908 before I sent back the old one, very convenient. The only problem was the 1907 was a Samsung VA panel [some were and some were TN] and the 1908 is TN.

I'd look at this Samsung also. It seems to get good reviews, good contrast and it has a true 170/160 viewing angle which their bad viewing angle is one of poor features of the TN panels. On sale for $270.

Okay so now moving on to the setting up part...
I think there are two options for this, KVM Switch and VGA Switch.
I want to share my monitor and keyboard with the PC as well as the console so should I get a KVM Switch instead? Also, is there a way to share the computer speaker as well, if so what kind of adapters are available for this?

The new goggles also do nothing.

If you get a monitor with multiple inputs, you can just use the DVI for your computer and VGA for the console, no need to have a switch you just switch inputs on the monitor.

For the speakers, I have speakers with line inputs so I just run it in there.

Otherwise you can probably just get something like this:

And then a male to male RCA adapter. Or if they make a female stereo 3.5mm to female stereo RCA.

Photon, just a quick question. If you have both VGA and DVI connected to the monitor, how do you switch between the two?

My monitor has a button on the front to switch between the various inputs (I have 4 different input options). Some monitors might have that, while others it might be an option inside the menus, which would make it more annoying to switch.
