I don't think so. You've been arguing the whole time that drinking water with salt in it dehydrates you faster. If you didn't think that was wrong than every post you've put up is completely useless. That's like me arguing that using fire to keep warm when lost in the woods is a bad idea because forrest fires will kill you.
That's hardly a good analogy. The entire time I've been in this topic I've spent it aruging that, like you finally just now pointed out (probably because I had to explain it to you a billion times), too much salt water dehydrates you faster if you consume more than the little amount that is required by your body.

But whatever, I really don't care anymore.

Are you freakin' kidding me? Just like you never suggested we swallow mouthfulls of salt, I never argued the "basic physiology" that too much salt = dehydration, too little salt = dehydration.

Somewhere I think we had a miscommunication.#
No miscommunication. I started this thread, commenting that I didn't realize addingd salt to water was a good thing in dry places. You stated that this fact 'discredited' the article, and went on to give a little science lesson about why people shouldn't drink salt-water as it would dehydrate them, in all circumstances, which turned out to be wrong.

Quote:
So....after reading from what you said that this CNN article actually SUGGESTS that a person drink salt water to attempt to hydrate themselves, I'm not even gonna bother to read the rest -- that really discredits it.
Why not just apologize for making a stupid statement talking out of your ass and save what's left of your tattered reputation here?

Flush! [/b][/quote]
My "lesson" didn't turn out to be wrong. I was right. I told people that too much salt water does in fact dehydrate you, which is true. I also did go on to agree with "Bring Back Shantz" that the body DOES require a small amount of salt water to function properly.

Moreover, I really don't care what you think of me or my "tattered reputation", because you go out of your way to blatantly try and pick out any mistakes I may make when posting here, or even call me out and say I'm "talking out of my ass".

I'm still a fairly new member, and this isn't the best way to welcome new peopel to join your community.

I'm trying to be an active member here and participate in intelligent discussions, but I see that's few and far between. I can't say me experience here so far has been the best, and I'm sure your webmaster here, assuming he/she knows how to conduct themselves in a reasonable manner, wouldn't be too pleased to see you treating people this way.

So, in the future, I'd appreciate it if you just not directed your posts towards me.

Okay? Thanks buddy!

You want to avoid people jumping on you? Don't run your mouth about things you don't know. You made a statement that was wrong and false, and people called you on it. I understand that you don't like that, but the easiest way to make it go away is to own up to being mistaken, laugh about it, and carry on. You're trying to change what you said, what the topic was about, what others said. There's no need for that, just recognize that you learned something new today, adding some salt to water can help stave off dehydration.

Standing behind what you say is fine, unless its stupid and wrong, then you may as well back off and have fun!

Welcome to the board, I'm sure we'll have many wonderful discussions, I look forward to them.

I just realized something about myself with what you just posted. You said I am trying to change what I said, and what the topic is about, and what others said too.

I am definitely not trying to change what I said, and instead, am trying to stick by what I said as you just mentioned. However, one huge reason why it may come across as me trying to change what I said is because probably more than half the time I post on an internet message board (including my own at intheslot) I am largely misunderstood.

I think the next time I join a new message board, I should start a topic (like most traditional "noobs" do) to introduce myself to the community, and explicitly say that I almost always have good intentions, and that it's pretty common to misinterpret what I mean to say.

So, I guess what it comes down to is that I have trouble expressing myself on a forum.

As you may have guessed, this isn't the first time what I like to call a "misunderstanding" has lead to some arguements.

At any rate, here's to starting off on a clean slate!

Man that is gold. I'm gonna use that all the time now. I wasn't wrong, I was just misunderstood.

For instance, when you said that you were the one that explained to me why too much or too little salt is a bad thing you weren't wrong, despite the fact that according to the times we posted at, I was arguing that point long before you even claimed to be, you weren't wrong, I just misunderstood you.

I get it.

Listen ***hole, I've had about enough of you. I tried to put this to rest with Agamemnon, but obviously you can't let it die, nor can you cut someone a break. You don't think it's even remotely possible that maybe, just maybe I meant to say one thing but it accidently came out another way?

When I entered this conversation I noticed that CNN said drinking salt water will actually help hydrate you. I knew/know that, because the body only requires a little amount of salt water to function proplerly, MORE OFTEN THAN NOT, drinking salt water will indeed DEHYDRATE you, rather than help hydrate you. Again, I do know that the body needs salt water, but it isn't much, and it's not like you should have a class of water with some salt in it everyday.

Go play in the sandbox or something junior.

Okay, I'll admit that it is possible that you meant to say one thing and it came out the wrong way, LIKE 5 TIMES. But if this is what qualifies as an accident for you, I'd hate to see what happens when you make a mistake that can actually cause you some pain, as you seem prone to making the same mistake over and over again. Anyone ever seen that episode of the Simpsons

"Oops I dropped your taco in the deep fryer, don't worry I'll get it"

sizzle
"Ow"
sizzle
"Ow"

What you fail to realize is that we were bagging on you for dismissing a report becasue you thougth something was wrong when in fact it wasn't, then arguing the fact even though you were completely wrong, then (and this is my favorite part) claiming to be the one that explained it to me.

Fine, I get it you realize drinking salt water is wrong, but you argued that drinking water with salt in it will dehydrate you faster. No qualification, no explination of the circumstances, just a blanket statement based of false information (salt absorbs water).

Oh, and by the way, if mocking you isn't the most mature thing to do, than where does calling me an ***hole fall on that spectrum? Ass )

In my defense, I called you an ***hole AFTER you mocked me, and AFTER you continued to spark this already-dead-conversation that me and Agamemnon basically agreed to put a stop to.

I will admit that sometimes I make the same mistake over and over again...it's not that I don't learn from them, it's just that, well, when it comes to forums, I guess I just lose some of my common sense. :/
