Heard a rumour today that Stern is gone from Sirius when his contract expires? Any truth to this?

Thursday morning he addressed the issue a little more seriously than he has in the past. Basically said, "You know, I really think I will be done at the end of this current contract". (5 years starting Jan '06).
That's about it, then right after that he mentioned coming back in some form, 2 shows a week, etc. So you never know.

Stern is making $100 mil a year for a 5 year term. The guy won't need to work after 2011. It will be a shame to see him go though. At least I still have Jason Ellis. I can't get enough of Ellismate.

^ I didn't get my radio for Stern (or for BTLS for that matter), but if these guys are both gone than I will have a hard time wanting to renew past 2010. I can only listen to satisfy my news junkyness so long...

I don't listen to BTLS at all, but my boss does. He let his subscription expire so he could write a letter to Sirius as a former subscriber and stock holder. Stating that he would not renew unless Sirius resigns BTLS. You have to wonder what kind of deal Sirius can put together for somebody like BTLS when they are on the brink of bankruptcy.

The bigger factor would be that there is no longer competition in signing radio talent between Sirius and XM. Why should they pay big bucks when consumers have one choice when it comes to satellite radio? And chances are very few people are going to switch away or to satellite because of BTLS.

I'd be happy with almost anyone else on 101 besides Blubber. I just can't get into the Nascar, wrestling, carny talk and the fake radio voice he puts on is almost as bad as Jerry Forbes or anyone else on CJay.

I have a question for XM users. I turned my radio on for the first time in months today, as I had to call XM to cancel one of my radios. Anyways, this is the first time I've used the radio since the merger went down, and all the channels seem to the be the same on the listings, but clearly the music isn't. How do I get the channel names to update? I have a Pioneer Inno if that helps.

I have Sirius in my Jeep and XM in my car. Now that they have merged, I basically can listen to the same stations on both. I liked XM better, because they had more stations and the Reggae station (the Joint), was better than the Reggae station on Sirius. Now, both have the Joint. They also both have the same blues station (Bluesville) and they both have the Loft, which are the three stations I listen to the most - so I'm happy with both.

I never switch to 101 except on the odd Sunday to catch the Miserable Men Show and sometimes Scott Ferrall so I honestly don't know if the hillbilly is still on the air.
I do know that he was loudly complaining on the Friday before last about the contract renewal and many thought he would not even be back on Monday, pretty sure he was. Enough of him already, they obviously do not want to re-sign him for the money he wants so lets gets some fresh talent on there.

By the way, Stern is not retiring after two more years, he was just shooting the you know what with the rest of the cast. He cleared the air today, and basically aplogized for making it seem like he was leaving. Stern is a workaholic, and really wants to make Sirius work out. They have over 20 million subscribers, and the majority are there for him. I think he would stay longer than his current contract. He currently works four days a week, but gets easily two months a year in holidays on top of that.

I would leave your radio on for a couple of days if possible. I've found that if a radio has been off for a while it will get updates in the middle of the night if it was missed.
