Well, the ones I go to (114 ave, and the new one 126 ave and 52st SE) all have displays telling you how many he has counted so far, and what your dollar amount back is so far.
A couple of weeks ago I counted along with the guy for the heck of it. He shorted me a total of 4 cans for 20¢. So I chalk that up to miscounting as opposed to being ripped off.

Sad but true. Someone will show up with a dozen or so empty plastic milk jugs that haven't been rinsed out. One by one they take the caps off and the aroma fils the air

Heh i guess were in the stone age here in High River. No displays telling you how many he/she has counted so far. Plus they go so fast it's hard to know if they made any mistakes

I don't think it's too bad - I pay $2 a bottle deposit for my half gallon milk bottles.

I thought that was only for milk cartons, but milk jugs/containers were to come in effect on November 1, 2008

...and because of it, alchohol prices are going up across the board to reflect the increase in returns. I work part time at a liquor store and we've been having to change the tags on every single item in the store, they've all gone up 10-20 cents, depending on the size of the bottle.

Well, to answer my own question, we got 10¢ for all the small items.
Nice to see what would have been a $40 trip to the depot net almost $80.
