I don't think you should censor unless there is a very obvious crime going on, like in the example of child porn, or if the hate site has been to be used to organize in a violent manner.

Actually one of the best reasons not to censor is that it makes it easy to keep an eye on such groups.

Well thats what they said directly in that thread.

Personally, I think stuff like this should be censored but I'm hardly Captain America when it goes to freedom of speech etc.

Isn't inciting hatred illegal anyway (i.e. human rights commission or whatever)? So wouldn't a hate site be illegal?

It is technically... but it's so hard to define. For example, you could easily go find white supremist site(s) that the city and province know about but allow to stay up.

Child porn sites, how to build bomb sites. Edmonton Oiler fan sites, sure censor the crap out of em.

The rest, based on human opinion, nope.

No, the second you censor them everyone else starts losing rights too. These have a right to think what they want just as we do and while we don't agree with what they say they do have a right to say it. Like anything else if you don't want to hear it then just don't listen.

I'd say the biggest exception to that rule is Child Porn.

We have always had censorship. We always will. It is a good thing. I don't want them showing snuff films or pornography on childrens sites. That should be kept clean. There should be no child porn whatsoever or snuff films shown on the internet. There is widespread agreement about that. Everyone who agrees with that agrees with sensorship.

Should we be having book burnings of every book the government may find damaging to their ideology. No. That means that censorship should have limits.

The controversial part is deciding where the line goes.

No, I support free speech.

The exceptions would be a website that contains:
-conspiracy to commit a criminal offense
-the actual commission of a crime (as defined by the criminal code NOT a human rights commission)
-defamation
-extortion
