I’m always amazed these sportscasters and announcers can call the game with McDavid’s **** in their mouths all the time.

I think Displaced Flames Fan coined the Fata thing from all those threads announcing Rico's waivers and claiming. At least that was how I remembered the start of the phrase. He made the comment on some subsequent threads that were duplicates, that Rico Fata was on waivers. Sadly many posters didn't *get it* at the time.

I use 'fata' in my everyday life once in a while, as a sign of a screwup.

I said to the wife the other day: "Forgot to lock the door, my fata".

She didn't get it.

Kinda like the movie "Kingpin" using the word 'Munson'.

*edit-spelling.

Not that we should stop using it, but 'Sutter-type player' is used basically anytime someone is describing a player either on the Flames or whoever we think should be on the Flames...

When someone says something funny, I notice alot of one word replies consisting of 'rofl', 'lmao', 'lol' or even 'roflmao' to really drive home the point...

The word rant, used in such ways as '/end rant' or 'I don't want to go on a rant here, but...', also finds it's way into longer than normal posts. Typically when someone wishes to really gripe about something...

Oh and when I read the thread title I immediately thought of 'fata'...

Cup of coffee.

Taking a flyer.

Everytime I see them my brain comes to a screeching halt trying to figure out what the heck it's supposed to mean.

That Rico Fata crap is annoying and reeks of internet geekage. Especially to new visitors to the board or to old farts like my dad who get confused easily.

One that I see all the time but don't know what it is is IIRC or something like that.

Also, amazing, terrific and fantabulous are used alot by Adam Peddle.

Well that's been said before, and all too often. Sorry, you've been fata'd.

I think a term that gets tossed around way too often on the OT board is "conspiracy theorist". I've always hated the term as it made little sense. To develop a theory there must be a sound idea with evidence, albeit circumstantial, to support it. Heck, what was once a "conspiracy theory" can become an accepted belief. More people today believe that John Kennedy was assassinated by mulitple assailants than believe the one gunman theory. Which is the "conspiracy theory"?

Another is the political shoeboxing. The political spectrum is not a flat two dimensional line. Its multi-dimensional and allows for people to take a more broad scope and examine issues rather focus on party lines or personalities.

Those are two that jump out at me on the OT board.
